On tap at the Brick Store Pub. Hazy yellow pour, with a medium, creamy, white head. The aroma is hay, barnyard mustiness, pine, and some light fruitiness. Sweet and musty, with a pretty significant hop bitterness. Long, bitter aftertaste. Medium to heavy body, very astringent and velvety. Overall, this is not my favorite beer. The dry hopping added too much bitterness, which overwhelms the more subtle aspects of a good saison. Oh, well.

Pour is a hazy yellow with an enormous white head. Aroma is wonderful. Lots of fruit. Peaches, pineapple and green apple. Also I get a decent mustiness and liquid candi sugar. Flavor is equally as nice. Very yeasty and dry. Citrus is there along with some pils malt. Not overly hoppy but enough to make is grassy and refreshing. It’s been awhile since I had a Saison Dupont. Nothing beats a classic.

2013 bottle. Pours cloudy dark golden color wih fluffy white head. Floral hop aroma with some doughy yeast. Doughy and grassy flavors with light bitterness. Light to medium body with lively carbonation.

2013. The beer appears cloudy and pale yellow-orange in color. The head is white and rocky. It puffs up aggressively when the beer is poured but settles to small clumps of bubbles on the surface in a short period of time. Little to no lacing. The aroma is similar to the normal version but adds in a floral, mildly grassy hop aroma. It’s not a big change, but the additional layer of flavor is welcome and adds to the overall profile of the beer. The beer is earthy with some bubblegum, sweet malt, peppery spice and a light medicinal ester touch. The hops show up with a noble-ish blend of floral, grassy, mildly citric and herbal flavors. The taste starts out with sweet, fresh grain, before a blend of grassy bitterness and earthy dryness change the direction. Lots of peppercorn spiciness, particularly in the finish. There’s also a healthy dose of hop bitterness in the finish, a blend of bitter grass and citrus rind notes. Mouthfeel is prickly and light. There’s some body to the beer, but it’s still an easy-drinking saison, refreshing and crisp. It’s fun to find a dry hopped version of a classic beer, and I appreciate that they didn’t go over the top with the extra hoppiness. On the other hand, I would love to see what they could do with other hop varieties. Definitely worth trying if you like Saison Dupont or saisons, generally.

2014 Version - tap @ La Capsule: A more intense flavour. Stronger, more pronounced hops. Very refreshing.___ ZBF Festival 2013 - Aroma has some pale malts and is also a bit soapy. Body is quite thin and carbonation quite high. Lightly hoppy flavour. It’s not over the top but doesn’t meet the standard of the original version 6-3-7-2-13.

1.5L magnum, sent from Glougluburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours a cloudy golden with a big foamy white head. Aroma of loads of rustic qualities, subtle dry hops, and Belgian yeast - just like the regular, maybe a bit hoppier. Flavour is a little rustic, very juicy, a bit fruity, with a little citrus and banana, and Belgian yeast. Highly drinkable and a lot juicier than the classic Saison Dupont. I perhaps slightly prefer the rustic feeling of the classic, though this is still an excellent version. Recommended if you get the chance.

2012 vintage Magnum bottle. Pours darker than the regular. Less refreshing and more bitter. Still a nice beer though.

Bottle. Nice drinkable saison, but not as good as the original Dupont. The dry hoppning seems to have added some sweetness and fruitiness. The nice caramel malts and the unique yeast qualities are however not as explicit as i would have wished for.
