Brigand is a strong blonde beer that is re-fermented in the bottle. The pale blonde colour is eye-catching thanks to the use of unmalted wheat, pale malt and pils malt. Brigand has a slightly malty taste with accents of spices and hops in the finish.

Brewed since 1980. 20° plato.

Standard Belgian beer. Blond/copper colored, with the usual taste of sweetness, yeast and some spices.

Pale, with great head. Flavour: a bit metal, warming alcohol, slightly fruity. Light bitterness. Quite typical Belgian strong ale, decent, but without anything special.

MEH! Not much going on here, all of the elements of a Belgian ale, but nothing stands out. Decent, but not outstanding.

Head: off-white, medium, creamy, good retention. Colour: golden-amber, hazy.

Aroma: fruity, vinous/dry, spicy, bit of alcohol. Taste: delicate sweetness, just a bit of sourness, spicy bitterness - well balanced.

Bottle from Carrefour Bruxelles Midi, split on split on the not so 300kph tasting part II on Train 9437 to Koln, 26/04/13. Hazed pale golden with a decent sized off white head. Nose is burnt toffee, sugars, yeast, citrus, orange pith, burnt alcohol. Taste comprises lemon rind, orange, caramel, light booze, wheaten notes, barley, sugars. Full bodied with fine carbonation, sweet bitter notes in the finish which carries a little booze. Ok stuff but nothing I’d rush back to.

golden colour, minimal white head; rich aroma of dried fruits (mostly apricot), apple, yeast and alcohol; taste of alcohol, candy sugar, hoppy bitterness and hints of fruits; good belgian ale

Yellow/orange hazy colour, and thick head, disappearing in 3/4 minutes. Smells caramel and wheat, Taste caramel, cereal, probably more wheat, and some dry fruits, with a bitter finish, definetely. But the overall sensation is sweet. Full-bodied. Alcohol burn, not well hidden, but it doesn’t bother. A good one.

Bouteille 330ml.
