We like to think this is an ale for everyone who believes you make your own luck. We sure did. And the result is a well-balanced, soulful IPA with just the right amount of hoppiness. An even keeled ale that goes down clean and refreshing, but still lets you know it’s been doted on by the Brewmaster. It’s true to it’s IPA heritage, but also highly drinkable. Lucky U. And we seriously mean that.

Bottle from Oak Tree. Pours light hazy copper with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is floral buttressed by citrus. Med body. Starts florally bitter. A little roast malt shows up. The citrus arises. It finishes dry and decently bitter. Rather mouthsmacking.

Pours deep copper into a shaker. White head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Sour caramel and resin aromas. Sweet spruce and toasted caramel upfront turning to grapefruit in the well-balanced finish.

Can. Not sure why this one’s rating is so low. My only beef with Lucky U is that, despite a very bitter profile, the hop flavor really lacked. Had nice toasted sweet malts, and some herbal, grassy hops, but the flavor to bitterness ration was skewed way bitter. Still, I was pleasently surprised here and would have again.

Tap @ Peoria grill, Denver. Pours dark golden with a small white head. Aroma of grassy and light citruss / grapefriut notes. Taste is light herbal and grassy hops, hints of grapefruit. some sweetness from the malt aswell. Medium body, low carbonation. Not really a great IPA ( I miss some more hoppyness) , but still a pretty decent beer that went down pretty well with my dinner. 200211

Variety case from a Philly case store: Pours a light amber color with a white head. Aroma is malty, citrusy, and bready. Bitter finish along with the citrusy parts. Slight aftertaste. Hoppy, but not too much. Not the best IPA, but definitely very drinkable.

Aroma: The nose is quite subtle with floral notes, biscuit, citrus, crystal malts, and a little earth
Appearance: It pours a clear amber color with a small white head and some lace on the glass
Flavor: The taste starts with some sweet malts balanced by some bitter earthy hops
Palate: The mouthfeel of this beer is crisp, dry, and a touch on the watery side
Overall Impression: This is just an alright IPA. I can't really pinpoint a major flaw or anything like that, it just isn't all that exciting. Decent stuff. It is drinkable and semi-enjoyable, but nothing more then that.

12 oz. bottle. $1.60 loose @ Binny’s. Eww, I need something bitter tonight. Cloudy bronze pour in my glass, just a light ring of foam, not a lot of bubbles visible. Smell has hops in it, more along an English IPA, with spicy bitterness and just a little citrus. But no problem with the taste. It’s spicy hoppy, more pronounced American hop, but also, I think, more European, with some pepper, earth, and a backing of pine twigs. Make no mistake, there are some aggressive hops here, tamed by some thick malt, but this is what they’d call a Session Beer in Colorado.

12 ounce bottle from Once Upon a Vine South, Richmond, VA. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a thin offwhite head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, nutty notes and citrus and tropical hop notes. The taste is leafy, citrus hops with nutty notes and caramel. Lingering bitterness. Medium bodied.

Bottle from Tiffany’s. Dark orange colour, off-white head. Well hopped, some citrus, bit of pine hops, with a caramel malt backbone. Mediocre.
