IPA Brewed with Rye
Serious hop bitterness, along with an unyielding grapefruit bouquet from the Amarillo dry hop, balances the malty richness of four varieties of imported Belgian caramel malts. Pours a spectacular crimson with a creamy tan head. A generous addition of rye malt accentuates a spicy, crisp finish.

355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.6%, 70 IBUs. Reddish brown colour, big and lasting off-white head. Nice aroma of floral and citrussy hops (dry hopped with Amarillo), also sweetish notes of caramel and orange marmalade. The flavour has also notes of orange marmalade and caramel malts, but is not extremely sweet. There is a distinct hoppy bitterness towards the end, with grapefruity and resinous notes, lasting through the long aftertaste. Good stuff.

Moonshine, Brooklyn ($6): Pours a deep red color with a fine long-lasting beige head. Aroma of hops and rye. Tastes mostly like an IPA with rye making the opening for the intense hop flavors. The hops are flowery and balance well with the rye notes. Some people who have tried this have not noticed the rye and granted, I think the hops are more prominent by their very nature. Nice malty backbone. Quite good.

Clear amber with a medium off white head. Aroma had plenty of hops, pine and grapefruits. Flavor had floral and fruity hops leaving notes of grapefruit, pine and a fine malt body rounder this gem up. Finished dry and bitter.

Bärnstensfärgad. Intensiv humlekaraktär, rejäl beska, karamel och smörkola utan att vara söt. Friskt syrlig. 70 IBU. Kanske lite standars ändå?

Bottle. Poured hazy copper with a nice beige head. Caramel malt aroma, as well as floral hops. Flavor was sweet caramel, citrus, and a nice long bitter hop finish. Medium body with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Nicely balanced bitter and sweet.
