12 ounce bottle thanks to Dylan. Looked really rough, but has held up. Pours a pure jet black color with a medium brown head. A pine and hop nose with astringency and whisky. The flavor is a big cocoa and roast, again more pine, the whisky really melts into a similar earthy and bitter flavor, very smooth. Finishes with earthy chocolates. Very solid. Easy despite the ABV.

Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration, Day Two. Pours black with a big, tan foam head. Boozy nose with strong roasted malts, cocoa, dark fruits and bourbon. Big sweet flavor with loads of hard alcohol, dark fruits, mild roast, cocoa, peat, burnt wood. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warmth to finish with burnt grass and wood, peat, dark sugars, rich chocolate, some dark fruits. Very nice. Pretty smooth. Pleasant toasted sugars. You know what you’re getting with a De Molen impy stout.

33 cl bottle @ home (bottled 28 Feb. 2012, enjoyed 5 Oct. 2012). Color is pitch black. Beige to brown head, thick, with quite some retention. Aroma’s: at first fairly mild, but as the glass got emptier more and more came out: sweet, molasses, roast, some tar, hints of smoke, some wood, with retronasal also some red fruit and chocolate. Flavor: medium sweet, roasted, chocolate. Strong alcoholfeel at first, mellowing a bit later. Full bodied, almost syruppy. Finishes with more roast, ashy, rather dry, medium bitter. The last sip tasted the best....

33 cl bottle @ Timo A. Bottled 28.02.2012, BBE 28.02.2037
Aroma is sweetish with lots of peat, some whisky and oaky notes. Flavour is sweet and rather strong on whisky notes. Some peat and woody notes too. Foamy and somewhat creamy palate. Too sweet and too strong on whisky.

330ml bottle. Pitch black with small, reawakening, frothy to creamy, minimally lacing, brownish head. Intense whiskey aroma with leather notes, disguised roasty dark malty basis. Taste is roasty dark malty with leather and vanilla notes, some bitter hop overtones, a minimally tart note, a touch of warming alcohol in the finish.

33cl bottle pours mahogany with mocha like head of foam. The aroma offers up molasses, dark roasted malts, some spicy wood like notes and then vague soft barrel notes. The taste begins with roasted malts, dark roasted malts and some chocolate. It then moves into almost peaty like booze and spicy wood. Overall the mouthfeel is on the thin side and the taste lingers with mild spicy wood notes and fading roasted maltiness.
