I didn’t have any Irish beer but this Imperial rye brown sounds kind of Irish… Devilcraft Devil O’Ryelly BA Imperial Rye Brown 8% Deep mahogany brown verging on black with lovely ruby highlights and a thick creamy looking tan head of foam. Big whiskey, oaky and tangy barrel aroma with soft cocoa undertones. Full bodied and silky smooth with nice warmth from the pit of my stomach. This has heat on the nose and in my belly so I’m wishing I had another to age even a bit longer. The taste is coffee, chocolate, toffee, whiskey, a touch of oak. The flavor profile sounds like it would be sweet but this is really exceptionally balanced, the only minor quibble is it has loads of boozy heat for just 8%, you’d swear it’s in the double digits. I’m digging this more than Same Old, Same Old I had a few weeks back. I hope I can get my hands on more BA Devilcraft brews in the future.

Tap at the brewery. Pours brown with not much foam. Toasty caramel nose. Parmesan cheese umami. Taste has caramel, booze and yes light Jameson character coming through. Roast malts and burnt sugar. Bit of booze, again. Barrel working well and still super drinkable, could drink a full pint of this.

deep mahogany color. Malty, spicy mouth with modest fruitiness and subtle whiskey notes. Full body. The rye and whiskey work well together but the whiskey doesn’t shine. Decent but doesn’t blow me away
