When the Saison was young, all beers would have been smoky, that being the only way to dry malt for the farmhouses making the style at the time. Our Smoked Saison incorporates this history into its profile, blending the subtly fruity, woody character of smoked malt with a spicy, pear and banana yeast character. Dry and effervescent, yet with a surprising amount of body, it quenches thirst as it would have for the farmhands who gave the style its name.

Can from the brewery. Cloudy yellow pour, with a large white head. Aroma is grassy, bright, nice lemon, big, rich, earthy smoke. Mouth feel is light, and lively, with a strong carb. Smoky, light woody finish, low bitterness, grass in the end, hints of spice.

355ml can. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold with a medium, frothy, long lasting, white head that laces. Aroma of pale malt, funky yeast, smoky wood and pear. Sweet fruity flavour of pale malt, funky yeast, lemon, orange, pear, black pepper and lightly smoked wood in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Refreshing. Very enjoyable.

A golden saison with a thick frothy lacing white head. In aroma, sweet chalky malt with light peated notes, light fruity esters, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with loads of peated bacon notes, light banana esters, cloves, light curacao, very nice. On tap at Lupulus.

Can sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Tom L. Clear yellow. Meaty and woody smokiness, fruitiness, spiciness, quite dry, bitterish finish, medium-bodied. Decent.

Can. Whitish yellow pour, a bit of white foam on top. Nose has some saison spices, very light ones that are paired with a light hint of smoke. Bit of fruity sweetness down there also. Taste is superbly balanced, light bitterness and spices. Dry finish and some faint smoke lingering.
