Bold, dry, and roasty. This is not your typical stout. As an American Stout it is on the hoppier side, but is balanced nicely against the dark roasted malt.

On tap at Monk’s Cafe. Pours black with medium beige head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is licorice, cocoa, roasted malt, cracker. Slick body, cracker, licorice, chocolate malt, light dry finish, very good.

Roast and plenty of dark chocolate. Nut and leather. Black pour with mocha head and lacing. Great balance. Fairly dry, bitter end. Nice stuff. Slick mouthfeel. Tall can.

16 ounce can. Barely translucent dark brown color. Small frothy tan head. Roasted malt nose has obvious chocolate notes. Flavor follows nose. Additional notes of roasted black walnuts and tobacco. Finishes bitter with peppery hops.

A cola brown in color with ruby highlights and a massive beige head that lingers. The aroma is roasty toasty oats sort of like a Cocoa Puffs (a type chocolate breakfast cereal). Full bodied, a bit slick and thick in the mouth but it’s got a great chewy malt character. The taste is dark bitter chocolate, roasted oats and a dab of green minty herbal hops. Super smooth and now I want to seek out the RIS!

Pours mahogany tinged black into a tulip. Mocha head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Chocolate and vanilla aromas. Soft and dry with milk chocolate and espresso upfront turning to chalky smoked chocolate covered pit fruit in the medium length finish

Pours brown, not very foamy. Nose is fill of chocolate and cocoa. Powdery. Taste has more of the same, lots of cocoa and milk chocolate, also lots of hops there. Nice dry milk stout, quite unique for what it is. Drinks well though.
