Hommelbier from Poperinge was brewed for the first time in 1981, for the triennial hop festival in the village. Hommel is local dialect for hops, and was the inspiration for the name of this tribute to Poperinge’s most famous export product. Since then, Poperinge’s Hommelbier has earned quite a reputation for itself with beer fans around the world, for its unique style, brewed with 100% hops from Poperinge.

On tap @Buskers Pub (Rome). Pours cloudy golden with a decent white foam. Aroma is malty, fruity, light spiced, bubblegum. Flavour is swet, rough and unbalanced, alcol traces. Medium body, medium carbonation. How boring...

Bottle to pint glass. Spice, orange, lemon and cracker notes. A pils malt aspect to it. Hazy golden orange full white head that contains brown splotches. Taste us grainy with spice from hops and yeast.

25cl bottle at De Verloren Hoek, Gent. Pours clear golden with a nice and lasting, white head. Herbal hoppy and slightly grassy and somewhat fruity aroma with pale malt and Belgian yeast. Moderate sweet with earthy and herbal flavours and a quite pleasant bitterness. Tasty brew!
