Hommelbier from Poperinge was brewed for the first time in 1981, for the triennial hop festival in the village. Hommel is local dialect for hops, and was the inspiration for the name of this tribute to Poperinge’s most famous export product. Since then, Poperinge’s Hommelbier has earned quite a reputation for itself with beer fans around the world, for its unique style, brewed with 100% hops from Poperinge.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a hazy golden/orange colour with a large foamy white head. Aromas similar to a wheat beer with bananas and cloves, hints of coriander, orange, apples, pears and spice. Taste has orange zest, peppery spice and a hoppy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied with lively prickly like carbonation on the palate and a fruity and spicy hop finish. Very nice. Excellent beer.

Large foamy head left a froth on a hazy dark golden body. Yeast & outdoor aroma. Medium bodied, light carbonation & a clean back. Belgian yeast, hints of Brett, pithy, hoppy & lemon tastes with a long tangy finish.

Tap at Kalahana. Oh, it's been a while! Nice, yeasty, fruity hoppy, grain, bit of sweetness. Lots of belgian. Had many times and now it's rated inexpertly. --- Beer merged from original tick of Poperings Hommelbier on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Edit 5/2023. Fruity, zesty, floral aroma. Hazy gold body; very persistent lacing white head. Fruity, citrus, floral, alcohol, pear, light alcohol warmth. Very good belgian gold strong ale. 0,33 l, bottle, supermarket, Grande Synthe (Flanders, France). # 17; 4/2015. Vynikající pivo. Ovocné tóny (pomeranč, mandarinka, višeň) podpořeny výraznějším chmelením. 8-4-10-4-18=*4,4
