For this speciality, we use old and young lambic beer that has aged in our oak casks. When the lambic is 6 months old, we add 25% black cherries. This provokes the second fermentation. We then clarify, filter and bottle it.
The cherries and young lambic create a red beer that is both natural and fresh, with an absolutely unforgettable sweet and sour taste. This is kriek as it should be, with nothing but real cherries and lambic. There is no place for artificial colourings or flavourings.

Bottle at home. Vintage 2014. Bottle picked up at local Gall & Gall. Dark ruby red with pink head. Cherries, cooked cherries, fresh apples and some dough /cream-cheesiness (probably from the yeast). Little dusty flavors. Overall fruity sweet, no obvious added sugar in the flavor and a very light sour finish. Body is medium, texture is dry, carbonation is average. Very tasty kriek! I think this is the best ’non sour’ kriek I’ve had so far. Edi: Sweetness becomes stronger when it warms up. // 2017/08/25 @ eeuwige jachtvelden. Decent sweet kriek. Some cardboard and metallic notes. Isolated cherry aroma, sugar.
