Existent represents the philosophy behind Stillwater Artisanal. We strive to define ourselves through our passion and sincerity while accepting that not all aspects of life are readily explainable. To manifest this ideology we present an ale of intrigue. Deep & dark though deceptively dry, braced by a firm yet smooth bitterness and accented with an earthy hop and mild roast aroma. This is an ale for you to define..

Think I had this at Alvinne CBF 2011. Notes from that day say: color and smell of a stout but tastes totally different. Little bit disappointed, fair.

Regional Food and Drink, DC 12oz tap ($8): Pours a black color with a beige head that leaves no lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and a weird sour, sort of funky yeast (?). There is some hop bitterness in the taste. Plenty of spice and some more of that semi-sour funk. Ambiguous roasty flavor that is neither coffee-like or chocolaty. Medium body. Kind of a strange brew. Unique for sure, but not the best beer I’ve had. I think they were trying to do something weird and different and ended up with just that.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar, June 2011. Dark brown with a small head. Difficult beer to define, a bit like a mix of a saison and porter. Roasted notes, spices, herbal, coffee. An interesting beer that is worth to try in my opinion.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours really dark brown with a creamy tan head. Light herbal and coffee aromas. Flavor is somewhat cola with ripe light stone fruit. Unusual earthy herb flavor - chicory? Farmhouse no, but Belgian ale, that fits better. Not strongly earthy, perhaps a bit sweet. Good drink tho.

A thin tan head rides above this black bodied brew. Coffee and chocolate aroma. The flavor follows the aroma and adds the addition of a typical Belgian characteristic yeastyness.

750 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Aroma is light malty, light roast, liquorices and fruity. Flavor is quite light and refreshing malt, fruit, some roast, liquorices and coffee. Medium body and moderate bitter. This is a bit strange beer, mild and almost subdue in flavor, still really delicate and impressive. A nice and sophisticated brew. Re-ratet 11. may 2012. This is simply a really fantastic brew.
