Brewed with Japanese wild-bred mandarin orange - ‘Fukure Mikan’ - and aroma hops with hints of orange. A great amount of malty umami taste complements well with the fruity citrus flavours.

Draught at Haymaker, 6/11/17.
Lightly-to-minimally hazy, drab, brass-golden with a small, white head showing low retention.
Light citrus up front is quickly pushed out of the way by light-to-moderate caramel-like maltiness with a fair bit of oxidation and fruity esters mixing in on the finish. Neither fruit nor hop seems even remotely fresh and rather quite the opposite. But it’s clean, anyways, with no alcohol noted.
Rather tired, very malt-forward and quite fruity, in the mouth, with a malty, yet fairly dry texture bolstered by low but engaging carbonation. Unfortunately, there’s just so little hop character remaining here and what’s left is just vegetal, vaguely citric and rather peppery. It’s all given to the bready, biscuity malt and there’s even some oxidation already. Obviously this must be a better beer if fresh, though given that it’s coming from Japan, I’m not sure how fresh you can realistically get it. Will probably seek out a bottle assuming they’re dated and see if I can find a relatively fresh one and then give this another go.

Really enjoying this. Initially, didn't pick up much orange but as it warmed it's like a liquid marmalade.
