Tap at CBM Koenji. Aroma is nice, pineapple, grainy. Taste is very watery, light fruit, not much else. I know it's a Radler type thing, but it tasted like air. A bit of a waste of time for me. Not unpleasant, but I'd even prefer one of the Johana beers that tastes like a soft drink instead of this which seems to be heading in that direction but doesn't really taste of anything. Maybe it wasn't in the best condition, but can only rate on what I drank.

Tap at Q-Brick. Pale gold, hazy, with lace. Pineapple and cracker nose. Weak and thin, pineapple flavor but not much going on. Not enough pineapple, nothing of anything else.

On tap at Yellow Ape, I am guessing this inspired by the popular Japanese beer cocktail "pine (apple) beer". A slightly opaque gold with a thin white head of foam that leaves lacing that coats the rim of the glass. The nose is yeasty pineapple that evokes those Taiwanese pineapple cakes. Light to thin bodied with a sharp raspy carbonation that digs into your tongue. The flavor is a very yeasty pineapple that ends in a disjointed tangy fruitiness. Not as good as most Ushitora beers but passable.

Pours rather pale, looking watery. Thin layer of white foam, leaving some good lacings. Aroma has pineapple, bit of malty barley, just a bit bubble gum. Taste has pineapple again, faint hop bitterness, leaves some light hop bite in the aftertaste. Actually this one does not feel very beer-like. More like those radlers I first tried from A Le Coq, beer mixed with lemonade. Not really my thing. Bit too watery and feeling too much like lemonade. Some woody flavours in the aftertaste.

On tap at CBM Jimbocho. Slightly hazy golden color with a creamy off-white head. Mild pineapple aroma with a touch of wheat on the nose. Medium to light body with a creamy mouthfeel (almost like a pineapple smoothie). Not sweet at all. The pineapple is well-balanced with the malt and wheat. Dry and slightly tart finish. Expectations exceeded. --- Beer merged from original tick of Uetake #006 Hey! Painapo! on 11 May 2015 at 00:15 - Score: 6
