Stark malziger Antrunk, in dem Holznoten der Fasslagerung nicht zu kurz kommen. Dabei ist die Säure nicht vorherrschend, stellt aber einen deutlichen Kontrast zur sonst wahrscheinlich vorhandenen Süße dar. Würzig, weiter dunkel malzig, die Holznoten steigen deutlich. Schokoladig, was eine interessante Paarung mit der Säure ergibt. Weich, nur zum Ende kurz disharmonisch. Aromen von Toffee, Kakao, Brombeere. Gut! 9/12/12/12/10/12

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Tart-ish, vinous aroma, a vinegar touch, notes of blue grapes, cautious sweet-ish hints of sherry and vanilla. Taste is slightly tart, roasty dark malty, slightly vinous, notes of blue grapes, black cherries, morello cherries, hints of nutmeg, some chocolate, treacle, a dry, woody touch. Complex, clean, very nice sipper.

Das Bier hat eine sehr dunkelbraune Farbe und wenig beigen Schaum. Geruch fruchtig säuerlich, reife Kirschen, holzig. Geschmack kräftig röstmalzig, Kaffee, Holz, reife Früchte, säuerlich, Espressoaromen im Nachhall, klasse!

Heavy, complex aroma of toffee, dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruits, sour fruits, berries, wooden and whiskey barrel notes.
Taste with about the same aromas, but more sourness.
Mouthfeel is full, oily, with a moderate carbonation and it finishes sour, roasty, smoky and with barrel notes.
Great, heavy stuff! I was hoping for a bit more fresh, fruity sourness, but it is greatly balanced instead between dark, Stout like notes, barrel notes and sour fruits. Overall definitely the most interesting German beer I’ve had lately!

0,33 l bottle. Got it from kappldav123, think it was a high level trade. Thanks a lot. Pours out black and oily. Nearly no head. A lot of barrel wood, dark fruity and alcoholic on the nose. Heavy stuff from the beginning to the end. Dark berriefuity, hopy, warming, sweet, very complex. Maybe too heavy.

Almost black beer, a head is quite weak and brown. The aroma is just great and veryy complex, sourness, cherries, raspberries, liquirice, some roastiness, oak, hint of whiskey and vanilla. Taste is quit esimilar than aroma, cherries and medium sourness, some roastiness and vanilla, wood, chocolate in the end. Medium bodied, smooth, low carbonation. The great beer. Unique mix of sourness, cherries and dark notes. Overally, the great balance.

BBE 22.04.19 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a tiny bubbly head. Aroma of roasted malts, lactic sourness, tart wood, cherries and Bretta notes. Taste is roasty, slightly sour and tartish with notes of chocolate, wood, oak, Bretta and coffee. Finish is roasty, lactic sourish and tart with notes of berries, wood, vanilla, chocolate and licorice. Bretta notes kick in really late, but give it a nice finishing touch. Not your typical sour ale, quite weird actually, but still manages to be pretty tasty.

Aroma is sour with vinegar and some roasted notes. Feels very oud bruin. Flavour is somewhat tart with bretta notes, some grapefruit, vinegar, roasted tones and hints of sour cherries. Finishes sour with woody and distant milky notes. Not the worst of the sour & dark beers, but still not my thing.

33cl bottle. Looks really good, wrapped in paper. Beer in the glass deep black, nice head. Wonderful stouty aroma. Starts very strong, intense malty, woody, earthy, not alcoholic. Fine notes of chocolate and some coffee. More and more sourish, not too much, fine fruity notes of berries. Warming and well balanced soft-malty finish. Easy to drink. A beer to enjoy. Amazing!
