Pine and citrus filled nose from the American hops. Malt sweetness in there as well. Drinkable hop juiciness is the key while remaining balanced with ample caramel presence.

It is said that the return of the HopDevil doesn’t mark the end, but rather the beginning. Each year he comes back to the hop harvest, where he thirsts for one thing – that bold hop flavor with notes of citrus and pine. It’s a menacingly delicious IPA brewed with American hops and meticulously crafted. After all, the devil is in the details.

From a 355ml bottle on 2/10/2011. Pours a clear copper with a small head. The aroma is of caramel malt, citrus, pine and a little honey, but is more subdued than a lot of the big American IPAs. It begins with lots of sweet caramel and orange marmalade flavours, followed by a very sharp, slightly spicy grapefruit hop bitterness. An excellent IPA.

12oz bottle from Westroads poured into a Snifter. Pours a very dark amber with about 1 finger of thick white head. Aroma of piney hops and figs. Taste is lightly bitter with some sort of metallic taste. Medium-light bodied with a oily and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, not too bad. Nothing I would seek out but still would drink again if the opportunity presented itself.

Bottle. Bright amber with a large pale beige head. Aroma of toffee, pine, grapefruit, some spices. Taste has toffee sweetness with some toastiness to it, then firm bitterness with citrus, pine and more spices than suggested by the aroma. No particular magic about it, but it’s tasty and quaffable. Certainly wouldn’t guess it was above 6% ABV.

Bottle @ Kitty’s, Helsinki. Originally rated on 10.7.2010. Nice, hoppy and fruity IPA. Slightly unbalanced, though.

Bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured amber color with a frothy white head. Very hoppy fruity aroma, some alcohol as well. Flavor is grapefruit and quite sweet, almost full bodied, felt very oily. Some alcohol coming through as well. Long bitter finish. Drinkable for sure, but not as good as I had hoped for.

Bottle @ The Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Moderately hazy orange to red color, medium to full sized off-white to beige head that disappears fairly quickly. Smell lightly malts, hops, lightly grapefruit, pine. Taste malts, hops, resin, pine, medium bitter. Medium but suitable carbo, medium to full body.

The bottle makes you think you will be drinking cannabis. Nice ipa. Not very shocking. Love the bottle but the drink itself is pretty average.
