Pine and citrus filled nose from the American hops. Malt sweetness in there as well. Drinkable hop juiciness is the key while remaining balanced with ample caramel presence.
It is said that the return of the HopDevil doesn’t mark the end, but rather the beginning. Each year he comes back to the hop harvest, where he thirsts for one thing – that bold hop flavor with notes of citrus and pine. It’s a menacingly delicious IPA brewed with American hops and meticulously crafted. After all, the devil is in the details.

355ml bottle. Pours a reddish-orange with steady bubbles and a generous head. The nose is of pine and soap, maybe just a little bit of grapefruit. The taste has pine, grapefruit pith and severely drying hops. The palate has medium structure, a very creamy texture and a long and very drying finish. Overall, a good beer, very tastey and could do 2, any more would strip the palate too much.

10/9/10/10/12/11

Awesome East Coast IPA, full of hop resin and citrus-laced goodness. Been a while since I’ve drank Hop Devil, and now I want to run out and grab a sixer. Layers of orange marmalade and lemon zest pile on top of pine straw and pepper, with a little hop-faced Satan smiling down on all the blasphemous goodness. The finish is long and bitter yet also citric and mildly sweet, lovely in its clinging complexity. Formidable brew amongst the onslaught of good IPAs currently available.

Bottle @ Hotelroom, Denver. Pours dark golden with a nice white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, oranges. Taste is orangepeel, light grapefruit, kiwi and piny hops, some bready and caramel malts. Medium body, soft carbonation, fairly bitter finish. 130411

Pours a nice copper-brown with thin head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is grassy with herbal and pine present. Tastes citrus-grapefruit with a bitter hop finish in the background. Pretty decent IPA.

Review from notes, sampled 3/12/2008 Pours a slightly cloudy deep copper color with a thin off white head that leaves some lace on the sides. Aroma hits you with hops; pine and grapefruit, but there’s also some malt in the background, a bit of caramel. Taste assaults the the taste buds with hops, much like the smell. Mouthfeel is a little thinner than I expected and is a bit dry in the finish, no lingering hops on the palette. Great brew, not as hoppy as some out there, but certainly very drinkable. I taste no alcohol and could easily drink to many of these.

Purchased at Bagel on Damen in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a non-descript Thursday night. Appearance a somewhat cloudy golden amber with a thin white head. Aroma mainly consisting of caramel malts and hops. Taste of a typically good IPA, slightly sweet, dominated by floral hops, nothing out of the ordinary, just a good IPA.

Copperbrown beer with medium and beige head. Typical and balanced aroma, fructose sweetness, tropical fruits and pine needles.Flavour is strongly bitter, pine forest, fruits, light sweetness, long and even slightly resin in the aftertaste. Slippery and pleasant to drink. Piney beer with enough sweetness; high-quality beer, but I would like to more sweetness and fruitfull freshness. Anyway, great IPA.
