Pours clear copper with a off-white head. Aroma is tart with notes of malt, blueberry and funk. Taste is light sweet and medium sour with a long dry, blueberry, blackberry, tart and funky finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. A quite clear looking dark golden to amber colored beer with a dense, white head of moderate size. Funky aroma with blueberries. Some generic berry notes too. Lemon, barnyard and some leather. It’s medium to full-bodied, with a pleasant carbonation, rather dry. Berry-dominated flavor too, lots of blueberry, some blackberry and a lemony touch. Lasting finish. Not many nice blueberry beers to be found. This is one of them. 161209

Bottle shared. Hazy pink amber with a ring pinkish head. Aroma of urine, swimming pool, brett and tart berries. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Cloin. Pours hazy orange-pink with a creamy head. The nose holds tangy berries, wood. Light sweet flavour with good acidity, more tangy berries, lemon, some woody dryness. Light bodied with massaging carbonation. Quenching finish with more citric tang, bracing acidity, some lemon. Solid.

Bottle shared by Ster at tderoeck’s place, cheers! A sour ale from one of the specialists in the style, fruited with blackberries, blueberries and strawberries and softened with honey. Loosely moussy, snow white, quickly dissipating head over a cloudy orangey beer with attractive pinkish hue. Aroma of berries indeed, but tart as in strawberry vinegar and unripe blackberries, soft aromatic spiciness blueberries vaguely noticeable, rhubarb, hint lemon, salted fresh tomato and tomato juice, sparkling rosé wine, wet leather, fermenting hay, celery. Crisp and tart fruitiness right from the start, sour rhubarb and hints of tomatoes and redcurrant more so than sweet strawberry, blackberry or blueberry, champenoise carbonation, bit minerally and accentuating the sourness, bready malt backbone with a grainy edge underlying the ongoing fruit tartness of both estery and real fruit nature, vinegary at times but not sharply puckering, drying the entire palate, joined in the end by a leathery, ’animalistic’ Brett note; sour berries remain after swallowing, drying the throat. I get as good as no honey, but I assume this component has been fermented out almost completely; I’d love to taste this a bit younger, when it doubtlessly breathes a more lively fresh berry bouquet and may contain some unfermented honey sugar for more balance, but in this form, it is certainly a very pleasant, attractive, juicy sour ale, ideal as an apéritif due to its fine but lively sparkling and dryingly tart character. Very enjoyable and the second time Wicked Weed pleasantly surprises me - I must get more from this brewery.
