The Commodore came out of our search for a medium-bodied American Stout. The recipe began at our R&D pilot brewery, but quickly became a favorite of our crew. Strong flavors of roast coffee and bittersweet chocolate balance with light citrusy hop aromas, highlighted by a crisp, bitter finish. One sip of this gold medal-winning stout will have you ready to take command of your own fleet.

Fat på Bishop Arms, Gustav Malmö. Smak och doft av kaffe, choklad, vanilj och stora mängder rostade toner. Lagom sötma, torr, lätt beska med smak av bitter choklad.

Draught at Green Street, 2/21/16.
Pitch black, indeterminable clarity with a moderately-sized light-tan head atop that shows strong retention.
Light coffee, vanilla-tinged dark chocolate and tons of caramel on the end. Smells very clean without an intense coffee-like roastiness and no resinous hops, though there is certainly influences of pine and grapefruit. No alcohol.
Velvety, yet not syrupy or sweet in the least. Still malty, with milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel and light espresso notes lingering. Carbonation is medium and fairly tight. No ash/char and very little vinousness/fruitiness. Very straightforward, as are all Ballast Point beers and always seems like they are aiming for a very to-style, nothing flashy rendition. Clean, no alcohol, no flaws.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’s place. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee, chocolate, piney hops, and an alcoholic note. Rather dry flavor, bitter, roasty, with light acidity, coffee, bitter chocolate, and some piney hops. Nice.

Drucken på Cask på Bishop Arme Gustav, Malmö. Mjuk, rund kramäg med massor av chokladsmak. Riktigt gott. Torrare avslutning med lite beskt kaffe och bitter choklad. Relativt torr. Riktigt trevlig. Gör sig riktigt bra på Cask.

Tap at Man in the moon. Black with tan head. Roasted aroma and taste with slight coffee, light vanilla, earthy spices and dark fruit. Fairly hoppy with a roasted and hoppy finish. Quite soft carbonation and thin body. Decent but not memorable.
