Tap at Ushi Tora. Usual hideji stuff, floury and wheaty, decent fruitiness, sweet citrus, orange. Lightly tropical. Initially seems thin but crisp, but has quite full aftertaste.

Tap at Turquoise. Big kinkan forward nose (tart orange with a tad of funk). Pulpy and juicy kinkan on the palate. Average carbonation. Light bodied. Super dry on the palate. Enjoyable. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kinkan Lager on 22 Apr 2016 at 21:57 - Score: 7. Original review text: Pulpy juicy kinkan. Good carbonation. Dry, low abv. Nothing to hate here.

Poured whitish yellow, bit of foam. Aroma is really fruit-forward, you can feel most of the nuances that this citric fruit has to offer, really fresh and filling your nostrils with citric kinkan character. Taste is pretty much the same, nice refreshing and quite clear citrus taste, has even depth in that citrus side, different layers reveal themselves after each other. Good. Finish is a bit of a letdown, as the beer does not have much body, it feels kind of flat or short at the end. Overall, I guess this is quite nice to have on a hot summer day.

Lightly filtered showing a lemonade yellow The nose shows a very dry kinkan flavors akin to dry fruit. The palate is extremely kinkan forward as it resembles more of a juice than a beer. There’s practically no bitterness in this one, but given it is a lager and meant to be light and refreshing, the extreme fruit forwardness works well and quite nice to be nice to being a summer session.

Bottle from Aeon Mall Kyoto, 514 yen tax included. Served in a tulip, it pours an incredibly pale cloudy straw gold with a big fizzy white head that leaves some soapy lacing clinging to the glass. The nose is really interesting, it gives me a spicy green kind of vibe, fruity with a bit of a dank mary jane quality to it. Very zesty carbonation, soft mouthfeel. The taste is light, refreshing, pale malts and kumquats - good citrus fruitiness. It gives me the impression of a tonic kumquat seltzer. Not so surprising as the label indicates the malt content is fairly low. Pretty good, my wife liked it - kind of pricey for what it is though.

Draught at the Great Japan Beer Festival, Osaka, 2011. Pale yellow color, cloudy. It has a nice aroma of kinkan citrus fruits but not much else. Fruity flavor, lots of citrus, can’t taste much else beerwise, but it is tasty and balanced for a fruit beer. Not overly sweet.
