(Bottle) Pours clear golden with small white head. Good aroma of bread crust with grassy hints. Medium body, smooth with good carbonation. Nice taste. Pleasant fruity start. Light biscuit malt. Good bitterness grows rapidly in the end. Very good.

Second time: On tap at their izakaya. Little sweet and creamy but at the same time slightly fruity. Bit tropical but in an ice cream way
Bottle. Not sure if this is a little old considering it's a summer seasonal. Nice enough though. Creamy pils, low on bitterness but it has some lingering there. Nice enough.

Bottle from MItsuya. Simple malt-forward nose, maybe some light peach and apple as it warms, but not much. Creamy on the palate. Light bodied with a touch of sweetness, but not overly so. This gets better as it warms up. Very nice little beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Taiyo Lager on 23 Apr 2016 at 17:56 - Score: 7. Original review text: Creamy mouthfeel. Light bodies some sweetness and a lingering light malt flavor. Tasty.

On tap at the GJBF in Osaka 2014. A light gold with a thin filmy head. Bready but slightly toe jam aroma not too appetizing. Medium bodied with a decent mouthfeel. The taste is of a bready clean lightly hoppy lager, not bad. Just the aroma doesn’t do it for me.

Tap @ Miyazaki themed restaurant in Shinjuku. Pours nice golden pale, with a small head. Fresh hop aroma, a bit of bread. Taste has carbonation, a bit of fruitiness that surprises me in a pilsener - in a positive way. Has quite a good body and snappy bitter finish. Very well made, great beer to have under a hot sun (as the name suggests).

Draught at the Beer Belly in Osaka. A fantastically fruity, rich, and hoppy lager. Very similar to the best Austrian Spezial types: rich malt character, good body, perfectly balanced with great hops, some butter. Light and refreshing. Satisfying and fantastic. One of the best lagers I have had in Japan.

Med golden color, frothy white head. Peaches and flowery nose. Mildly hoppy and ultra smooth mouth with hop flowers really making their presence. The finish not overly bitter like a Pilsner (though it would be an insult to call this a pale lager), but enough for a lager (25-30 IBU??). A bit more ommph at the end would have helped this beer. Re-rate. This puppy has dramatically improved in last several years, with lots of herbal hoppiness going on these day, over a dry malty backbone. Really nice take on a Czech lager. 3.7 for new beer. Old rating of 3.3, so blending the two.
