Human history is filled with myths and legends that shape and define our culture. Rituals, celebrations, gatherings.. whatever. One thing that’s for sure, is we enjoy a proper shindig. So let’s get the stories flowing and share a little ’Folklore’. A bracingly deep ale, built dark and rich with an elegantly lean body, accompanied by heady aromas of Belgian yeast, earthy hops and gently kissed by a wisp of smoke.

Dunkel malziger und fruchtiger Antrunk mit deutlich zu viel CO2. Ansonsten frisch, die Malzigkeit gefällt, milde Kaffeenoten, die Fruchtnoten bleiben vorhanden, hefig. Süßlich malziger, geringfügig röstiger Abgang. 10/9/10/11/10/11

Colour is almost black with small slightly brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Chocolate, hints of coffee, fruits and malts. Quite fruity for a stout.

Draft sampled at Rattle n Hum, NYC. Pours near black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roast, coffee and malt. Flavour is over mordant sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle. Sweet chocolate and earthy coffee aroma. Black brown with a small tan head. Slightly smoky chocolate, dark fruit, and roasty coffee with some very subtle spice in the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Gusher! (all over Shrubber) Cola brown, huge, light brown head. Soft chocolate scent. Coffee, slightly smoky dark fruit, black cherry taste. Very soft,,,really enjoyable.

Bottle (gusher). Molasses malt and hay aroma. Dark brown with giant head. Sweet molasses/prune malt and bitter herbal hay flavor. Dusty finish. Excellent.

Bottle, 75cl. It pours a next to black body, topped by a dense, finger-thick light tan head. The aroma is roasted, with a touch of dark berries. Roasted malts, some dark chocolate and coffee too. It’s full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, with flavors of roasted malts, some berry hints, dark chocolate and a touch of warming alcohol. Long, roasted, chocolatey finish. Most definitely a nice one, like so many others from Stillwater. 130814

Pours almost black with a light tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, earthy hops. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long roasted, fruity and chocolate finish., Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

750 ml bottle. Gusher - what a waste. Negative points. Pours black with huge head (of course). Aromas of dark chocolate, heavily roasted malts and shoe polish. Somewhat sweet and dry. Flavors of dark milk chocolate, sweet coffee, and roasted malts.
