Belgian-style farmhouse saison
Inspired by the traditional rustic brews of Belgium, our iconic American farmhouse saison is charmingly complex but eminently drinkable.
Artfully spiced with coriander, ginger, orange peel and grains of paradise, its champagne-like effervescence leads to a crisp, dry finish, delighting discerning drinkers everywhere.
While delicious on its own, Hennepin pairs remarkably well with a variety of foods, complementing shellfish, barbecue, cheeses, charcuterie, and a wide range of spicy fare.

At a tasting, thanks Ariel, small creamy head, hazy lemon yellow colour, aroma of vanila, stone fruits, and banana, flavour of candy with vanila and metalic notes, strong but quite mellow bitterness, long bittersweet aftertaste. Good but just a little too bitter for the style.

Best by September 2014:
It poured a light golden yellow yielding a yellow/orange colored body. A white, foamy, one inch head appeared and slowly died to a film coating the top of the body. A fair amount of carbonation is seen rising. The smell has the coriander and pepper up front. The taste is peppery and crisp yet tart and balances it all out with a slight orange peel-esque-ness coming through. The palate is dry on the aftertaste and finish, some acceptable harshness on the tongue. I’d say this is fairly drinkable. I’d say this isn’t exactly very drinkable. Overall, this is a good saison, different from most I’ve had, but still good.

Picked this up last year. Nice bright orange pour, big pillow top bubbles. Smells like wheat, orange peel and honey. Taste is heavy on the spiciness and lots of honey. Great french saison taste and crisp lemony finish.

Smells yeasty,. with some banana and on lees type smell. Reminds me a lot of Fin du Monde tripel. Pours cloudy blond with some head and lacing. A little farmy yeast as well, and some booze in the aroma. Overall taste has a bitterness, sweetness, and sourness all in small doses. Bottle.

On draft at lost dog cafe in Arlington Virginia. Opaque golden pour with a fine head. Citrus and cardoman notes in the nose. Refreshing.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with full head. Aromas of yeast, lemons, bananas, and white pepper. Floral and spice flavors with sharp fruity citrus and green apple notes. Lots of scrubbing bubbles. Very nice iteration of this particular style of Saison

A beautiful beer, nice copper color with thick, two finger head. Part of an Ommegang gift set (with the glass), it has a nice aroma and taste, but doesn’t stick to the palate (no aftertaste). Otherwise, a nice Belgian from Ommegang. Can’t wait to try the rest....

750 ml bottle bought @ Bishops Arms Örebro. Pours hazy pale golden with a rather small frothy white head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace. Smell is slightly sweet, fruity and yeasty with green grapes, unripe plums, wood, white Chardonnay wine, yeasty esters, dry soil, hay, lemon zest, dried flowers, apricots and very subtle hints of barnyard. Taste is sweet and vinous with grapes, wood, hay, dry soil, plums, peaches, dry yeast, lemon zest, yellow flowers and white wine. Mouthfeel is round, slightly dry and medium bodied. Finish is sweet, fruity and floral with plums, lemon zest, grass, plums, grapes and peaches.
