A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.

355ml bottle from a trade, thanks cp45!
BBE 03/18/13 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a smooth brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, dark chocolate, cocoa, hints of cardboard. Taste is roasty, malty and dark chocolatey with notes of cocoa and espresso. Finish is sweetish, roasty and malty with some cocoa and dark chocolate notes. Feels a bit old, perhaps this would be better fresh.

Bottle shared at chrisoβs - big thanks to The Peter. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose has lots of toast, milk chocolate, nips of tar. Medium to big sweet flavor with smooth, sugary chocolate, some burnt earth, raisins and dark berries, low bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sugary dark malt finish with hefty burnt bread, milk chocolate, moderate scorched earth, raisins, dark berries. Solid. Robust and quite drinkable.

Bottle at ChrisO. It pours darkest ruby with a small light tan head. The nose is rich, roasty, coffee, cocoa, earthy, acidic berry and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter, roasty, cocoa, dark fruits, blackcurrant, jammy, peppery, light alcohol and charred wood with a dry, roasty finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Decent.

Draft. From notes. Loads of coffee and chocolate. Rich, thick and the alcohol is totally hidden. I could drink this everyday.

12 ounce bottle. Opaque black color topped by a brief tan head that disappears quickly. Subtle roasted malt aroma has a hint of smoke and brewed espresso. Bittersweet roasted malt flavor has notes of dark chocolate, oak and warming alcohol. Rich and cloying with a chewy mouthfeel. Finishes with a smoky bitter aftertaste. Very nice, indeed.

Bottle: Pours black....with a minimal tan head. Aroma is mild smoke, chocolate malt, dark fruit. Flavour is charred chocolate/coffee, old dark fruit, ash. A backdrop of earthy, spiced bitter at the finish. Really smooth and silky. Very good.
