"Clean this mess up or else we'll all end up in jail...those test tubes and the scale...just get 'em all outta here..." He was referring to the complex super-critical-CO2 hop extraction equipment set up on the table in the lab across from the brewhouse. Hop extracts are for the BIG brewers, he thought - suitable only for crummy sub-standard and barely-passable industrial lagers, not the subtle and elegant craft beer made here. But wrong he was. The New Brewer does not eschew any possible inputs. In this case the mountain of extracts will replace the mountain of hop vegetative material in the kettle thus creating cleaner hop flavors and preventing the otherwise spinach-like mess of a kettle full of super-hopped wort from clogging up a pump or worse. The sensuous honey-like amber ooze was administered intravenously to the wort kettle and the sacrament was complete. Another kettle of Hop Stoopid is once again raised up and fermented on high

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 8 Oct 2011) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with pine needles, caramel, rubber and earthy hops. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit, pine needles, caramel and a slightly earthy, citric bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Very tasty beer with an impressive hop character. Very nice. (7/4/8/4/15=3.8) Rerate: (Bottle, 7 May 2016) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of orange marmalade, apricots, honey, grapefruit, bread and lots of fresh citric/floral hops. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, grapefruit, orange peel, honey, bread, resin and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well made IIPA with a generous hop presence. Excellent beer!

22oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a dark gold/orange with a small bit of white head. Aroma of piney hops, citrus and grapefruit. Taste is medium bitter. Slight grapefruit taste also. Light bodied with a slick and oily texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, it’s a pretty good beer. Something I have drank before and will drink again. Good intro to craft IPAs for someone not used to it.

Bottle at home from GBBF 2011. It pours clear orange, with a thick foamy white head. The nose is pine, sweet orange, tangerine, mango, grapefruit and wood polish. The taste is pine, resin, orange pith, caramel sweetness, leather and grass, with a massive, long bitter finish. Medium body, foamy mouth-feel and moderate, but soft carbonation. It’s very smooth and utterly drinkable.
