An Un-Freakin’-Filtered Hoppy Belgian-ish Wit
This UNFILTERED Belgian-ish Wit-ly-esque-ish-ness brew features a dry twang of hoppy bitterness and is perfect for the summertime drinking!
The Bard said that it’s better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit. True dat. Wit dat in mind we take you now to the stoopid side of the classic wit on the wings of Yakima’s finest. What’s it got to do with beer? Give us a call.

12oz can pours with a clear pure gold body that supports a near white head of foam. The aroma pulses with tropical and citrusy hoppy goodness with mango, pineapple and tangerines as well as faint malted wheat well off in the background. The taste delivers smooth wheat and thin sweet banana notes that quickly run into a juicy wall of mango and pineapple followed by citrusy tangerine. Toward the finish the banana like esters are still percolating there just under the weight of the juicy hoppiness. Just a nice hop forward beer.

$2.00 bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours clear golden with a giant off-white head. Smells of lemon zest, pepper. Taste is mild skunk, mild cat pee, pine, lemon zest, bread crumbs, oatmeal, and something I can’t quite place.

Bottle, smells like medium hop IPA sweet perfume, no BO here. Some sediment in the bottom. Way to go laggy, nice way to ruin a wit, turn it into an IPA. Does everything have to be IPA today? This is in the wrong style, JMstoopidHO. Happy BS hoppy ubiquitous IPA n’at. Thieves! Gimmie back my witbier you crooks.

Bottle, from Trader Joes i think. Good wit, it had the standard wit flavors, coriander, wheat, but the hop character is very prominent for the style. Sweet finish with coriander.

Pour is a hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma is a pretty intense hop with lots of melon, mang and pineapple. Flavor is more of the pineapple with more of the Belgian yeast. Finish is grapefruit bitter with some chewy wheat malt. This is a pretty solid hoppy wit. This is almost more IPA than a wit with plenty of fresh hop flavor.

Bottle from a Lazy Dog Slightly hazy light golden color with a huge frothy white head that lasts forever. Citrus mint and spicy yeasty esters on the nose with a solid honey like sweet bready maltiness and bubble gum. Solid citrus and pine hop flavor. Clove and pepper yeast flavors. Sweet bready malt moderate level of hop bitterness. Pretty tasty beer. I’d just like to go on record as saying I invented this style back in 2008 when I accidentally pitched a wit yeast into an IPA beer base. Everyone is following in my footsteps and should pay me royalties! ;)
