This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. With four hop additions during the brew process and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! It was was born at the crossroads, in a juke joint, as if Dale’s Pale Ale sold its soul to balance Deviant’s foreboding aromas of citrus, grapefruit rind and piney resins with a copper ball-of-fire color and inscrutable finish.

Copper/amber color with white head. Aroma dominated by citrus and floral notes with some caramel and honey. Clean taste with some hops, caramel and a great malty backbone. Not as good as Dale’s but still a good one.

Big can shared at home. Pours a clear amber with big white head. Some malts on the nose, but mostly American C hops - grapefruit, apricot, resin, floral, pine. Taste delivers on the hoppy promise, but is well balanced. Good carbonation. Finish is long and lovely.

Can. Slightly hazy amber with an inch of white head that laces extravagantly and lasts well Aroma of pithy citrus, caramel, marijuana, freshly cut pine. Slightly syrupy, moderate carbonation. Very sweet, with oranges, dough and caramel; zestier citrus flavours burst through - kumquat as well as grapefruit, orange oil kitchen cleaner - but the sweetness never quite gets cleaned up. By the time the strong bitterness has a chance to register it’s just numbing. The hops are nice but everything else is fighting them.

Can from 5000, thanks! Pours a soft copper color with a thin ring of creamy beige head. Hoppy aroma; mostly citrus and pine, but a little floral too. Tastes malty sweet at first before the herbal and floral hops come in. Lightly earthy, but retains a little of what I associate with wet hops. A good IPA, I wanted to like this more, but it just didn’t quite line up for me the way other hoppy OB beers do.

Can, from Birratrovo, Como, canned 12-03-13 (congratulations for the choice of format!)
Amber color, hazy, with medium sized creamy head. The aroma offers a good amount of hop fruitiness; there is some mango and some oranges, then mild apricot jam; finally, a light earthy note, manure, and biscuits. Good body structure, with round and smooth mouthfeel; it has a moderate residual sweetness, just a light presence of crystal, quite strong biscuity caramel flavor, and obviously a powerful bitterness, with plenty of fruits and some pleasant resins; the final is very long, vibrant and balanced.
Yes, yes; a very solid brew.
