This beer was developed through extensive experimentation by our brewers with different combinations of fruits and spices. The base beer is Basis which was inspired by the traditional brewing methods of Belgium lambic brewing.

Revive is a tart, tropical, and refreshing blond sour ale. Aromas of pineapple and herbal chamomile are followed by tart and tropical flavors after aging in wine barrels for 3-4 months.

Bottle to tulip.
Appearance: murky golden yellow color with a two finger white foamy head which dissipated to leave some messy lace
Aroma: tart to sour tropical fruitiness rolling into some green apples and a subtle herbal/chamomile character
Flavor: tart juicy with an ample fruity sweet undertone leading into a sly apple to chamomile and tart tropical aftertaste
Texture: almost medium bodied - just a touch under, more of a sipper, semi-dry juicy tart apple to herbal finish
Overall: a nicely done sour ale worth partaking in again.

Very nice and pretty clear beautiful peach and apricot coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head that fades pretty quickly and doesn't show much other signs of carbonation, around 25 per cent opaque. Aroma of very soured and tart, spontaneously fermeted notes with some peaches, grass, apricots, light tea, a dash of flowers and coriander seed and a hint of tropical fruits, but no real pineapple scents noticeable per se, but nice in the nose. Light-bodied; Very assertive soured and especially tart notes with some fresh pineapples and perhaps more noticeable - canned pineapple and pineapple juice elements that somehow lead to a noticeable and entertaining fresh chamomile flower experience (as my favourite tea, this is easy for me to pick up) with some honey and other floral notes, but the interplay between the tart fruits and the more balanced, herbal chamomile is nice, all with a very light malt body here and the dry oak and foeder, spontaneously fermenting yeasts make this tart and complex, even at the end. Aftertaste is robust, complex and enjoyable with a big tart quality, some citrus fruits and a hint of grass, even, but the floral and dryness is nice, especially at the end to add some variance to the soured, tart and tea components from the pineapple and chamomile. Overall, a very nice and complex beer that has a wide range of flavours, but all crisp, easy-going, nuanced and additive for this one - they work very well together and they balance each other out entirely. I think this works better as a sum of it's parts and components than a beer without the pineapple, yeast, oak and especially chamomile all together at once. I sampled this 500 mL bottle, purchased from The Beer Store in Franklin Mills (Philadelphia), Pennslyvania on 05-October-2019 for US$7,50, with Batch #00, bottled on 17-August-2017, sampled just over 3 years after purchase and a bunch after 5 years after bottling, sampled at my house here in Washington on 08-October-2022.

Pineapple- and camomile-flavoured American sour ale by this sour ale (or indeed 'Amlam') specialist, 50 cl bottle received as a birthday present from Craftmember in 2018, thanks Vincent and Hinke! Snow white, audibly fizzing, mousy, equal-bubbled ring for a head with some white dots in the middle, eventually dissolving into as good as nothing; initially near-clear warm apricot-hued 'old golden' robe with disparate but lively strings of sparkling here and there, but shifting to a murky yellowish beige in the end. Outspoken and quite pleasantly surprising bouquet of freshly baked cookies, dried camomile, indeed pineapple in a sour and 'raw' kind of way but also a pineapple candy- or barbecued pineapple-like aspect, pan-fried apples sprinkled with cinnamon, tree bark, halfripe white grapes, white peaches, homemade gooseberry jam, sugared rosehip tea, dry cider, lime. Spritzy, mildly estery onset, lip-smacking sour, lots of gooseberry, crabapple and green grape sourness, quite sharpish initially with a lime juice-like edge, but also bringing sweet-and-sour pineapple up front; fizzy carbonation, lean cereally and lightly biscuity maltiness, inherently lightly sweetish but severly dried by acidity, lactic but also much more crisp and fruity, no doubt from the pineapple, which is intrinsically very sour. This sharp, edgy fruity acidity last all the way through, almost vinegary at times but always retaining a highly aromatic cookie- and candied pineapple-like aspect, with the first one probably induced by the camomile - as in camomile cookies. No hop (or other) bitterness worth mentioning - sour is the dominant tone here, in an 'American'-acidic way, but the use of both pineapple and camomile lifts it all up to a higher level of elegance and grace. Ends bone dry - in contrast with the aroma, so at least this is a very deceptive beer. Pleasantly aromatic sour with the 'aromaticness' still feeling very natural and balanced, this is clearly the work of a sour ale specialist indeed, like the few other Upland beers I had; typically American in its uncompromising sourness, but original and well-executed. Half a liter is more than enough, though...

500ml bottle. Hazy, bright, orangey golden colour with average, frothy, fading, white head. Floral, fruity and slightly spicy, minimally oaky aroma, notes of chamomile, a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg, hints of apricot, pineapple, yellow fruit in general, some orange. Taste is initially tart, floral, fruity, notes of chamomile, unspecific fruitiness, additional spiciness with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg in the middlepart, more explicit fruitiness (orange) as well; minimally woody, oaky, finish with a subtle pineapple touch. Very nice, balanced composition; rich and intense but not overdone chamomile flavours turn into cinnamon at times. Good!
