This lager poured a dark yellow colour with not much of a foamy off white head. Scents included eggs, earth, sweet malt and grass. First taste had a off flavour with more eggs on the palate. Slightly watery but flavours of corn syrup and hop did come through at the end. The finish is slightly hoppy and sourish. I think I could have gained a fresher bottle.

Bottle. Deep gold body. Frothy white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of toasted bread, toasted grain, cookie, herbs and flowers. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery texture that turns velvety in the finish, lively carbonation. Dortmunder Gold is malt accented as it should be, but hits on the right amount of bitterness and carbonation to balance it and keep it clean. There is a bit of huskiness in the finish, but the fresher the beer, the cleaner it is. Delicious beer.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright dark golden color with a small white head. The aroma was typical sour tangy lager. The flavor was sweet, tangy and had just a hint of fruitiness. The finish was long and tangy.

12 oz bottle courtesy of crizay. Gold to orange-ish color with thin white head. The aroma is sweet citrus and a hint of pale Munich type malts. Flavor is sweet caramel mixed with citrus hops to create a candy orange-malty flavor. Leaves a pleasing taste behind that is slightly sweet citrus but not too sweet.

Better than GL burning river. However, not as smooth as I think a genuine lager should be. Not too much carbonation. Has a lingering slightly bitter aftertaste and finish. I still am not sure why great lakes beers rate so high. Will not buy again.
