The Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter is deep, rich and velvety soft. A full blooded roasty character with almost no burnt flavor is balanced by complex alcohol notes. Strong (9% alcohol by volume) yet unfailingly subtle, this special brew rewards unhurried attention. Enjoy!

Bottle thanks to Ernest, damn crazy mutations between animals with their hats. Poured into a small goblet La Trappe goblet glass. Let it warm for about 20 minutes after the fridge. Pours black with a small brown head that quickly dissipates into an almost nothing lacing. Aroma is very present, light chocolate, good smokiness (thats what really wins me over), slight roastiness. There is a slighty fishiness that I usually see in wheat coming through that is a turn off to me. The description is right on with the velvety aspect on the mouthfeel. Nice low carbonation with a thick mouthfeel, not syrupy but velvety. Nice roast, chocolate, smokey taste. Leaves a heavy roast aftertaste.

Bottle thanks to Suttree. Deep opaque brown body with reddish highlights. Rich, complex aroma of burnt caramels, roasted malt, sour woody notes, licorice, and soy. Oily, smooth body revealing layers of chocolate, toffee, toasted marshmallow, soy, and even prune. Salty, leathery palate. Absolutely perfect finish on the back of the tongue, where burnt residual sugars and leathery notes linger long after the sip, just out of reach of the full array of tastebuds. This could be improved, still, by going easier on the carbonation...damn, Duck-Rabbit beers are carbonated. An excellent beer all around.

Bottled, thanks Immy! Very black, minimal brown head. Aroma of coffee and plums. Medium sweet with concentrated flavour of toffee, coffee, citrus and tar. The mouthfeel is compact, and the flavours are really intense and concentrated. I find notes of chocoalte pudding and blackberries. salty finish. More refined than the traditional rather crude examples of the style. Well worth it’s high rating!

Bottle. Rating #1100. Pours a black colour with a small tan head. Dry roasted malty and slightly hoppy aroma. Dry malty roasted hoppy flavor with some hints of chocolate and coffee. Dry roasted finish with a warming bitter aftertaste. A lovely porter.

Bottle pours a deep black with a large foamy brown head. Heavy blocy lacing. Aroma is some bitter coffee, dark roasted, charcoal notes. Flavor is similar, a nice balance of dark roats and sweet dark pitted fruits and bitter chocolate. Nice medley. Finish is the smokey bitterness of old campfires. Thanks to OhioDad for this one too

Thanks to Suttree for his generosity in sharing this rare and delicious beer. Simple appearance; black and not much of a head. Served just below room temperature. It is exceptionally smooth. Aroma has some yeast, chocolate and lots of red wine as well. Flavor is a little vinous, some coffee, light chocolate, and just a little sourness that so many Baltic porters have. Light and pleasant alcohol burn, but the alcohol is not present in the aroma or flavor.
