Bottled pours dark with almost no head. black cherry bit of oak. OK but needs better body. The lack of arb hurts.

huge black pour, big billowy mocha head. Aroma is big on chocolate, coffee sweet roasted malt, alcohol, and some licorice. Flavour is big on the chocolate also, with a tinge of alcohol, the finish is bitter and chocolatey, wth some great licorice notes that linger in the end. very very nice, but i would consider this more of an impy stout than a porter, but holy hell this is delicious.

Bottle. A- Plum, mild charred leaves. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Plums, subtle tang, nesquik powder, molasses, subtle umami. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly tart finish. O- This is clearly highly rated and so I wasn't going to get it but then did based upon those rates. Had never heard of it before picking it up. Lovely plums that protrude with a slightly salty and subtle tangy flavor. A lot of flavors going on really. Don't know if I totally buy the hype but still very tasty.

12 ounce bottle. Opaque dark brown pour.msmall creamy tan cap. Rich roasted malt aroma is reminiscent of prune and Worcestershire sauce. First sip has notes of soy sauce and roasted portobello mushrooms. Subtle notes of licorice, balsamic vinegar and plums. Medium bodied as you would expect for a Baltic Porter. Complexity grows as brew warms. Outstanding!

No surprise Duck-Rabbit nails the Baltic porter so well; these guys know dark beer, and their spot-on version of a difficult style only furthers this assertion. Deep veins of chocolate and dark fruit are layered on top mild notes of anise and bitter coffee. Never grows roasty, though, staying firmly entrenched in the classic porter unsweetened cocoa profile. Not a trace of the 9% ABV, and the fade leaves lingering traces of pumpernickel bread and pitch-black chocolate. Very nice.

12 ounce bottle into snifter; not sure on bottle dating, but has the 12 notched out on the label. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, cherry, sherry, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, cherry, sherry, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Very minimal herbal/roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, toasted dark/brown bread, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and zero cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Light carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9%. Overall this is an awesome Baltic porter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV, with minimally bitter/drying finish. Very rich malt complexity, and complementing restrained dark fruity yeast notes. A very enjoyable and spot on style example. Not sure of the age, but likely has a couple years on it. Very impressive.

Pour is a complete black with a small tan head. Aroma is a complete roast with cocoa and some burnt marshmallow. Flavor is more roasted almost to the point of being charred malt with some slight tart cherry and sarsaparilla. This was quite flavorful and thick as hell. This is like drinking a milk shake. Maybe a little alcohol heat comes out but that's ok. This was a nice dark and heavy porter.

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a motor oil black with a half finger of beige foam that lingers. Big Nutella, sorghum nose. Dates and cacao, melted brown sugar. Roasted malt on the palate. Toasted caramel, roasted bitter finish. A big beautiful, rich and full-flavored stout. Everything a baltic should be. --- Beer merged from original tick of The Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter on 06 Oct 2017 at 21:36 - Score: 7. Original review text: Big Nutella, sorghum nose.
