How do you improve perfection? Imperialize it! That’s the mindset behind this celebration of our historical building and our surroundings. What you are about to consume can probably be described as an imperial old brown. Old tradition with a new perception. Very much like the brewery itself...

From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam, Carnivale Brettanomyces 2016. Aroma is sweetish malt, caramel, ripe fruits, oak, touch of funk. Flavour is light sour and a tad sweetish. Body is medium. Imperial Flemish Brown indeed, nice!

330ml bottle. Dark brown colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Nutty, dark malty aroma, minimally citrusy, fruity overtones, hints of dried fruit, a touch of mandarine and orange, a cautious vinous and woody, morello-carrying touch as well, minimally bretty, funky overtones. Taste is minimally dry, nuttily dark malty and slightly citrusy hoppy, hints of orange and mandarine, some dark fruit, morello or the like, vinous and woody overtones, maybe a touch of Cointreau as well, tart-ish (green) woody undertones. Quite complex but also rather diffident, weakish..

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, reddish brown with an off-white head. Slightly tart nose, dark, dried fruits, brown sugar, balsamico. Fairly solid body, woody, oxidized note, sweet burned caramel yet with this balsamico tartness. We're in the neighborhood of Flamish Reds with a sour cherry-like character. A really complex and interestinh beer. American Strong Ale, wtf are you talking about?? 090518

330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Langnes. Dark brown body, filmy layer, spotty lacing. Smell of brown malts, bread and ripe fruits. Solid taste profile of dark fruits, earth and dark malts. Dry mid-sweet malt driven finish with warmth from the alcohol. Nice. Good depth. (At a joint session with Finn and djoeye, Tromsø 31.08.2017).
