How do you improve perfection? Imperialize it! That’s the mindset behind this celebration of our historical building and our surroundings. What you are about to consume can probably be described as an imperial old brown. Old tradition with a new perception. Very much like the brewery itself...

Bottle, thanks SirLimpsalot. Hazy brownish with a small head. On the sweet side with medium tart berries, toffee, hints of oak and malt. The body was around medium.

Keg at Brasserie V, 8/14/16. Clear copper, thin fizzy white head, good retention. Aroma of tart cherry, smoke, caramel, hints of orange. The taste is caramel, toffee, smoke, cherry, brown sugar. Medium bodied, mild tartness.

330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy red-brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head that fully dissipates. Sour vinous aroma with oak, caramel malt, dried fruit and mild brett. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, dried fruit, red wine, oak, chocolate and brett with a sour, dry, mildly bitter, warming alcohol finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation.

Bottle from Denman Wine and Spirits, Vancouver
Dark brown color, small head. Dark malts aroma, a bit earthy and dusty, some alcohol, minimal fruity esters. Lean body, light residual sweetness, dark caramel and some malt flavor, biscuity, infinitesimal fruity esters.
Too boozy.
Good beer, earthy, grossly overpriced in Canada.

Bottle - Light soured dark malts and some cola notes. Deep jet brown with a rich brown head. Boozy dark malts, cola like notes, spice and a nice long malty finish. Decent.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma has a strange spiciness to it upfront, followed by a pronounced earthiness, and some stale coffee grounds. Flavour is more pleasant, with notes of cocoa, earth, and light spiciness. Pretty light mouthfeel, with not much complexity. Not very impressed with this one.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with full head. Aromas of vinous wood, dry chocolate and sugary dark fruit. Flavors follow same, oaky and dry with toasty malts and leathery herbal notes. Complex and interesting.

Great big head and very dark brown body. Sharp molasses on the nose, hint of spicy yeast, varnish. Flavour is sweet chocolate and mud. Heavy and the alcohol doesn’t show, but not much finesse to this one.
