Brown sugar bomb, tons of sweetness varying from caramel and turbinado to molasses and bourbon. Hints of plum and fig and cocoa underneath the sugary center, while the booze steals the show on the finish, leading to a warm, oak-and-vanilla-lined fade. Pours a murky brown with a brief off-white head and slight lacing. Nose is caramel, bourbon, and pumpernickel bread. Slightly boozier than most Prairie offerings--which means it's still head and shoulders above most 12% beers--but also a tad slack with the carbonation. Too sweet for my blood, but not without its charms.

Sampled from bottle at Maakun’s. Dark brown with thin greyish head. Big barley, sweet roasted chocolate malts. Hazelnuts, vanilla. Over medium sweet and moderate bitter and light vanilla. Over medium body and malty feel. Soft carbonation. Beautiful balanced bittersweet finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Okie on 09 Jan 2018 at 11:10 - Score: 8

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Slight hazy dark reddish brown with small beige head. Bourbon, light spices, cocoa, sweet herbs, brown sugar, lots of oak, alcohol, dried dusty herbs, red wine, toffee. Quite sweet and medium bitter. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. Another good beer!

0.355l bottle from Top Hops. Been keeping this for a couple of years now, looking forward to trying. Starts off a little different from than I thought. Was expecting a jet black thick cloudy pour, but it's more or less clear and coffee colored. On the top there's a small quickly sidesticking beige and filmy top. It smells really good though. Lots of both licorice and chocolate. A rush of dark slightly burnt sugar, some marzipan sweetness and a little hint of alcohol. Nice. Tastes quite good also. It lacks a little perhaps on the mouthfeel this. Not at all watery but not like I was hoping or expecting. It's soft and prickling on the carbonation. Again, lots of burnt sugar and mild licorice in the taste. A nice suiting little alcohol burn, nice chemicals chocolate wrapper and some cake as well. Lots of flavor, a nice sipper. The oaky stuff is not so present anymore I guess. 07.01.2017

750ml shared by Kraig. Unfiltered grey-brown-red body. Whiskey, but lots of oak too. Really tasty beer, big and sweet, rich. Lots of unfermented sugars. Mollases, brown sugar.
