In 4BEANS, a rich brew of beans and barley—a special blend of liquid aged in rye whiskey and bourbon barrels— meets Madagascar Vanilla to fuse Baltic myth and treasured spice. 4Beans has returned!
4Beans is a dark, rich porter with tons of complexity. There’s ample roastiness, accents from barrel-aging, and tons of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla.
Admin Note: This version hit national Sixpoint Distribution network and was rye whiskey and bourbon barrel aged.

Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a black color with a large foamy tan head that faded and left good lacing. The aroma was brewed coffee, vanilla, nut, coffee and bourbon. The flavor was strong fresh ground coffee, chocolate, nut, brewed coffee, vanilla, toasty malts and bourbon. Long ground coffee, chocolate and bourbon finish. Moderately full bodied. Magnificent.

Draught at Ginger Man, 12/7/18.
Dark mahogany with strong ruddy highlights and a tan head showing low retention. Medium clarity.
Nose is beany coffee with heavy rye barrel adding an intense spicy, liquor-like character with tons of warmth. Sticky toffee, caramel, molasses and heavy vanilla. It almost all comes together, but I think it still needs quite a bit more time, as it's just too rough around the edges and hot on the finish.
In the mouth it's rich and thick with big caramel-vanilla-maple-molasses notes yet pretty decent attenuation. Sharp alcohol, though, with big fruity, spicy, rye-like notes and a strong wood character. Lingering vanilla, molasses, alcohol and fruity liquor. Low, tight carbonation.
