Das Weiherer Rauch, das beim European Beer Star mit der Goldmedaille prämiert worden ist, besticht nicht nur mit glänzendem goldfarbenen Aussehen, sondern vor allem durch seine fein-würzigen Rauchmalznoten. Allein der Geruch lässt sie eindeutig erkennen, doch zeigen sie sich auf ihrem Höhepunkt erst beim Genuss. Da kommt der ganze weiche, niemals zu heftige Malzkörper zum Vorschein, der eingehüllt ist in die zarten Hopfennoten. Da bleibt der Hauch von Rauch auch noch, wenn der letzte Schluck getrunken ist. Ein Bier, das auch nicht-Rauchbier-Kenner überzeugt.

Bottle shared on the train with the bros during the Bamberg Jolly. Pours clear, pale yellow with a foamy, white head. Nice beer, with light dry smoke in the nose. Good balance, with sweet pale bread, light dough, smoked malts. Light bodied with average carbonation and creamy texture. Sweet finish, with notes of cereal, nicely rounded smoke. Solid rauchbier.

Mar ’15. On tap at Hopfenreich, Berlin. It poured clear golden body with medium sized head. Skeptical about the smoked malt content judging by its looks, I was once again surprised with strong smoked cheese and ham aroma. Very nice! Then, flavor was again less smoked, lightly sweet malty, with light peat sourness which added to the watery mouthfeel. Medium bodied otherwise. More of the smoked character came later, in its long finish, mostly like cheese, sweet smoked cakes and wet peat. Full of ups and downs, but none critical to drown it, so at the end this turned out to be rather a good smoked beer.

swing top bottle 500ml. -from www.beershop.hr Clear golden coloured, medium sized white head, mild smoke in the nose. Smoked malt, caramel, touch of hops and burnt plastic with also notes of smoke in the finish. Nothing more nothing less than ok.

Bottle @ DØE meeting. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, smoked meat, sausages, smoked ham. Flavor is light sweet, malty, caramel, smoke, smoked ham, little sourness, light notes of mold. Medium body, soft carbontion, light sweet finish with nice smoke. 200515

Bottle from Bierothek. Rather pale orange-gold. Nose of ham and bacon on a buttered roll, with a slice of peach. Quite sweet and fruity, estery too, honey-glazed ham, speck, an off one for a rauch. Quite a bit of hops here too. Bitter finish. Quite drinkable, even though this is not my kind of rauch. Here’s to them for trying something so original though.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear gold. Film of sticky, white head. Grainy malts. Floral hop. Meaty, savoury smoke on top. Taste is smoky sweet. A hint of dry. A hint of bitter. Pretty clean palate. Very drinkable, with soft carbonation. Finishes smoky sweet. Light, bitter linger. Very nice.
