Our imperial coffee stout is made in collaboration with the devilishly handsome Scott Carey & Co. at South City's Sump Coffee. For this year's batch, we chose a coffee from the "La Virgen" region of Colombia

Pitch black pour with a tall tan head, slow to rise to the surface (the perfect-looking stout, as far as I'm concerned). Notes of brewed coffee, toffee, roasted malt, subtle licorice, cacao nibs, some green hops, very subtle berries. Simple, but very well balanced, well-rounded and complete beer. Delicious stuff, quite a bit better than regular Sump, which is a solid beer, as well.

Big coffee aromas w/ caramel, cacao nib & faint vanilla. Dry & roasty on the palate but some brown sugar, milk chocolate sweetness. Solid.
