Poured up at Ratebeer Best 2017 Beer Fest where it exhibits a deep mahogany colored body that supports virtually no head at all. A swirl of the beer to bring up some bubbles shows how well this coats and nearly stains the glass. The aroma offers up rich nearly intense spicy maple with sort of residual sugars and a slight molasses in the background. Dang. The taste delivers rich roasted malt, dark roasted coffee, sweet molasses and kind of chocolate nuanced spicy maple… wow! It heads into the finish with lingering sweetened maple spiciness and some soft dark roasted coffee. If you’re into maple beer then this beer is for you.

On draft at RB Best. Not an imperial at 10%? It pours a dark brown color. The aroma has maple syrup with some smoke and roasted malt. The flavor is the same with some coffee, maple syrup, smoke and roast in the finish. Light acidity. Weaker body than expected, but the flavors were all there.

From tap at Ratebeer Best festival, Santa Rosa. ABV is 10% according to their blackboard. Dark brown almost black color with smal beige brown head that disappears. Malty aroma, roasted, chocolate, coffee, caramel, maple, dark dried fruits, wood, alcohol. Heavy sweet and light bitter taste. Medium silky oily body with soft carbonation.

Crowler. Nose is maple syrup and coffee mostly, yes, like a huge stack of pancakes with a cup of Joe. Sweet maple flavor with less coffee and some chocolate, and malty, cake. Smooth and silky. Great stuff. This really works.

Whoah. 32 oz crowler shared by Matt. This beer filled the entire garage with the smell of Aunt Jemima. Pretty incredible really. Pours opaque black, small dark brown head, dissipates fairly slowly, good lacing. Aroma is the most maple I have smelled in anything other than pure maple syrup. This is crazy over the top. Wow. Once you get past that, you do pick up the coffee as well. Flavor is fully sweet, loaded with coffee, maple very much present but not as overpowering as the aroma would have you believe. Light bitter with some roasty mocha notes. Medium body, soft creamy mouthfeel. This is one of those crazy beers that would be undrinkable as a pint pour but is really fun to enjoy as part of a tasting. And screw all you haters, that’s how I am gonna rate it.

Crowler shared by Miles. Awesome aroma of maple smothered pancakes on an inky black body with a rusty tan head. The taste is fantastic maple, thick pancakes, molasses, sweet but not cloying. Wonderfully balanced and drinking like liquid pleasure, superb.

Poured from a crowler. Aroma is very sweet with a ton of maple syrup character. Moderate chocolate notes with a hint of roast and coffee. Light alcohol notes. Pours black with a medium large, thick, dark mocha head that steadily recedes to a thin film that lingers for a bit. No lacing a d moderate length legs. Flavor is very sweet with a medium light roast note and some coffee. Moderate chocolate notes with medium light maple. Moderate bitterness with some light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Honestly a bit thin, but very sticky. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty decent stout with a ton of maple character. The body is thin for how sweet it is though.
