A special light beer containing only 3.5% alcohol and approximately 35% fewer calories than regular lager beer. But every bit as thirst-quenching and refreshing.

Yellow colour with a white head. A very light lager beer in any way. Light light malty and hoppy aroma and flavour. Bottle

33cl bottle. Thin white head. Pale golden pour. Ok but not much better than an alcohol free beer. Very little taste

Originally rated July 2006. This light beer from Holland pours a decent gold colour (just slightly lighter than normal lagers). Its white head dissipates at average pace and leaves adequate lacing. Average carbonation coming from only a few spots from the bottom of the glass. 4% ABV is written on the front label. The nose is on the rubber side with light malt in the background. Crisp refreshing mouthfeel. The taste is not bad at all, with lots happening (especially for a light beer). More flavours than most light beers out there, with some mild bitterness, grain malt and light corn in the aftertaste. Surely beats American light beers.

Truly the worst of the worst-- at least shitty brews like Icehouse and Cobra give you a nice, burny rubbing-alcohol flavor. Amstel Light tastes like seltzer water that has big dreams. Amstel Light is made for lawyers who want to look down on people who drink Bud Light. Amstel Light is Heineken’s revenge for everyone thinking they’re a German beer. Amstel Light may one day rise up and kill us all. (2008)
