6 Geese-A-Laying is a return to the more classic dark and toasty winter ale, following the appropriately blonde 5 Golden Rings. Brewed with cape gooseberries, this malty ale displays notes of plums, dark cherry and bright, citrus-like flavors from the namesake berries.

This is a 2024 edition 375 ml bottle from the brewery direct as part of their 12 Days of Christmas compilation . A quadrupel, that is good; gooseberries, that will be new to me. My New Belgium large tulip glass is ready to receive, the cap is off and I pour. The color is a dark gold-brown much like the La Trappe quads and carries a healthy head of eggshell tan foam. I will say that the scent is mighty fine, there is hard candy, yeast, ripe fruit and baked bread. The taste is good, not to the level of the nose, it's too sweet. But that is minor point in the grand scheme of things. There is grain, malt, berries as advertised, honey, yellow plums, vanilla and a touch of dates. Slightly bitter at the end. Not a great quadrupel but it is still quite all right. I would buy again if I could ever find it.

Bottle thanks to William. Pours amber with small off white head. The aroma is dark fruit and citrus. Medium body, raisin, leather, citrus, dry finish, very good.

Thin, mildly sour, a bit sweet, boozy. Malty and fruity, abit of plum and caramel. Rating redacted.

Bottle 750ml @ Sommerhuset
Pours dark reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, gooseberry, alcohol and caramel. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and light sour with a long warm, caramel and lightly tart gooseberry finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Sample at Bob's Bar during the Bruery Almost 12 Beers Of Christmas Night! event on 12/05/2019. Murky brown-amber color with a medium ivory white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lace. Aroma of dark fruit, yeast, malt and spice. Full-bodied with flavors of Belgian yeast, dark fruit, caramel malt and spice. The finish is fruity with a yeast and berry aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

750ml bottle pours out amber topped with a small head. Nose is berries cherries sweet and deep. Taste is more of the nice sweet fruit notes and some rich deep notes. Probably the best of the bunch.
