RBWG14 Pours blck , small grey head Smells sweet , roasted malts . Taste is bitter , sweet, grains , whiskey , oak . Nice Re-rate anno 2017 @ the great eclipse tasting. 2012 version side by side with 2012’s 20y old Elijah craigh. 12y was way more boozy, dark grains, whiskey. Not bad, but the least of the 4 versions we had so far.

Bottle as shown thanks to Kevin. Pours a dark brown with beige head that lasts awhile. The aroma is roast, smoke, and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with rich chocolate and roast with nice sweet finish. Hides alcohol well, very impressive.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice bitter chocolate with good coffee notes, herbal hops, burned malt, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, so smooth, well balanced, sweet chocolate malt with caramel, coffee, bourbon, very nice. Xmas Ottawa gathering Dec 13 2013.

Bottle shared a GBBF ’13, 13/08/13, massive thanks to Joris for the pour. Mid black with a thin tan head. Nose is bourbon, oak, honey, dark roast, chocolate. Taste comprises dark roast, booze soaked wood, chocolate, dark fruit tones, bourbon, sugars, molasses. Full bodied, smooth on the palate massages the throat, fine carbonation. Good stuff indeed !

Bottle at gbbf 2013. Opaque black caramel with loose tan head. Nose is big choc roast booze. More of the same in the flavour with some liquorice. Pretty big alcohol presence. Big bold stout. Very nice.

Bottled @ gbbf, batch br2 2012 purple wax, medium sample. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma of biscuit, bourbon, roasted malts, chocolate, hint of coffee. Honey is gone in aroma. In taste its quite heavy on bourbon, bit boozy even. Still base beer is present.

Split a 22oz bottle of the 2012 or 2011 (Purple?) vintage three ways. This poured a dark black color, with a dark tan head. Aroma was sweet and roasted notes - barrel, booze. Bourbon character, vanilla, some barrel in there. Very nice, subtle, subdued flavors, very smooth drinking - vanilla, chocolates, no harsh notes around the edges here.
