22 oz bottle from Hoboken Vine. BR 1 2015. Purple wax. Dark brown in color with a frothy light brown head. Drippy lacing on the glass. Heavy barrel and bourbon on the aroma. Dark roast. Licorice and vanilla. Taste is more on the dry, roasty side up-front, sliding nicely into a slightly sweeter closing. Nice full bodied, roasty mouthfeel. Pretty drinkable for a beer this high in ABV, but definitely meant to be a sipper.

650ml bottle @ ISKTR. 2014 vintage. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, bourbon, buttery notes, vanilla and oak. Taste is smooth, slightly roasty and oaky with some bourbon, wood, vanilla, hints of buttery notes and coffee. Finish is smooth, slightly roasty and oaky with some bourbon, wood, vanilla, butter and coffee. Pretty good.

65,1 cl bottle @ ISKTR ’16
BR 1 2014, purple wax
Aroma is sweet and very "American". Fruitiness, licorice and vanilla. Feels already sticky even though I have not tasted yet. Flavour has alcohol, licorice, sweet vanilla tones and wood. Alcohol balances the sweetness here. A slow sipper. Wait, no, THE slow sipper.

2020-02-15, bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
vintage 2016, tag "EC/2 2016", 11% ABV, 8-4-8-4-16=40

Mild aroma of dark malts, light smoke. It has medium body strength, the roastiness is prominent, traces of chestnut honey and vanilla, quite strong alcohol feeling, and whiskey flavour.
Good, but overpriced.

2016-05-11, bottle from Viti's, Vancouver
bought in 2014, tag "Br 2/2012", 9.5% ABV, 8-4-8-4-16=40

Black color, beige head, medium head, apparently less carbonated. Tickling carbonation on the tongue, dark chocolate flavor, mild bourbon or rye feeling, a bit too boozy, and moderately roasty in the final. More tobacco than the Four Roses tasted side to side. Nice sweetness level. Balanced. Very nice.

Bottle, 2011. Pours opaque black, medium creamy tan head, good lacing. Aroma is cocoa, bourbon, vanilla, oak tannins. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, rich, hints of molasses, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. A bit hot but otherwise lovely.

Bottle shared at some stables in Belgium. Black with light brown head that leaves lots of lacing. Dried apricot, cocoa, strawberry, vanilla, booze, light metallic touches, bubblegum, old coffee. Over medium sweet with a lingering metallic bitter finish. Full bodied with soft carbonation and lingering dry feel. Quite nice except for the finish.

Medium brown. Dark brown. Rich dark sugary aroma, quite sweet and has a sticky molasses character, has a very rich almost vanilla note. Very nice balance. Delicious.

Comparative tasting of 9 different Eclipse Stout variants. All beers small to rather good yellow-beige rim over jet-black beer 2014 ed. Smokey, Bourbon, vanilla. Sweet, incense, chocolate, whiskycharacter. Warming, alcoholheat and deceptively light bodie. This one is utterly great. Stout the way it ought to be. 2011 version Alcohol, benzene, spirit, Bourbon, vanilla, vanilla icecream, sweet nose. Sweet taste as well, with Bourbon, raisins, sweetened milk, retronasal even more vanilla. Creamy feel, light slickness, treacherously ’light’ bodied. Again a sweet version, but better balanced than the 20yr barrel version.
