Black. Some bourbon in the aroma. Heavily roasted malt. Heavy palate. Not much bourbon in the flavor at all. It finishes dry.

Great deep chocolate aroma. Intense smooth and soft with a great woody whisky in the aftertaste. The body is chocolate with round and smooth caramel. The whisky is not too intense, it fits great into the picture and the woody hints and the smoke and smooth alcohol are a great combination to the smooth and round Imperial Stout. The aftertaste is intense but soft. No alcohol there, very smooth and great with a subtle bitterness and not too much sweetness.

Intensiver, sehr trockener Malzantrunk. Schokoladig, Noten von Whisky, ab dem späten Mittelteil deutlich weicher, die Trockenheit fällt nicht mehr so stark ins Gewicht. Steigende Intensität, dabei fällt der verdammt weiche Alkohol auf. Langer weicher Nachhall. Gut! 10/12/12/12/12/12

Bottle @ FiftyFifty Eclipse Charity Tasting. Opaque black color, average sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is malts, liquor, firm roast. Taste malts, roast, liquor, very nice malt and whiskey bitterness. Medoum to full body, medium carbonation. Lovely.

22 oz. bottle, dated 2015. Black pour, with a small, persistent, light brown head. The aroma is mild roasted coffee, toasted coconut, vanilla, oak, rye, toffee, baking chocolate, and a bit of pipe tobacco. Sweet and roasty, with a mild bitterness and very little booziness. Heavy body, smooth, creamy, and a little harsh in the finish. This is a very well made stout, almost perfectly finished in barrels of one of my favorite whiskeys. Just lovely!

An incredibly silky-smooth experience, with notes of bourbon, oak, vanilla, milk chocolate and caramel. A world class beer. 4.7/5 revisiting on 11 March 2017, 2015 vintage: dark brown pour with a tall and lively tan head. Notes of fine bourbon, vanilla, caramel, light sourness from the oak barrel, honey, subtle lavender, milk coffee. Smooth texture, low carbonation and the alcohol is hidden very well. 4.4/5 - I should not have kept this in the cellar for as long as I did

I am starting with the 2009 bottle and will add at the bottom as I go through the vertical. All are poured from a bottle. Aroma has a moderate dark chocolate note with some medium light roast. Moderate dark fruit and sherry notes. Hints of honey and a touch of meat. Light oak and bourbon. Doesn?t smell as oxidized as the 2009 Heaven Hill Eclipse was. Pours black with dark brown hues and a faint, dark brown head that disappears immediately. No lacing and medium legs. Flavor is rich with moderately strong chocolate notes and light roast. Some light tobacco and leather as well. Moderate dark fruit notes with raisin, berry, prune and fig. Medium light sherry note. Light oak and bourbon. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with low to no carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, better than I was expecting after the 2009 Heaven Hill bottle. Oxidation is pretty much only showing as dark fruit and sherry. Nice, silky chocolate notes. 2011 bottle has a little more chocolate and a moderate amount more bourbon with almost no dark fruit, sherry notes. 2012 bottle is well balanced with some dark fruit and raisins, quite a bit of chocolate and some light leather and roast notes Light bourbon as well. Very balanced, but also slightly boring. 2013 bottle is similar to 2012, but with a righter, richer aroma and flavor. Nice chocolate and bourbon notes with some light oak and roast. Moderate dark fruit notes. 2014 bottle has nice chocolate and bourbon notes but the heat has died down. Thicker mouthfeel with some leather notes and roast coming in. Not much dark fruit. 2014 is probably my favorite.

Sample at SBWF. 2014 bottle. Black with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, light vanilla and bourbon. Flavor is quite sweet with chocolate, bourbon, oak and roasted malt. Dry and rather bitter finish.
