3 Fonteinen (Oude) Kriekenlambik is the result of macerating hand-picked whole sour cherries on young lambic for at least four months, in a proportion of one kilogram of fruit per litre of lambic (and possibly blended with some more young lambic). Fruit intensity ranges from minimum 35% to 50%. Aside some selected bars (e.g. 20th Anniversary of Akkurat in Stockholm, Sweden), this sour cherry lambic is available at given times in the lambik-O-droom.

Area Four draught, 9/24/24. Season '20-'21, blend 15. Hint of haze, deep black cherry. Small, pink head sits at light cover. Juicy, rich, deep cherry. Tart, low sweetness, not overly acidic, though. Nicely balanced. Deep, mellow, rich lambic culture shows big Brett notes with mild lactic and no acetic. Right where you want it to be. Wheat and oak gently provide structure. Bright, juicy, highly macerated cherry leaving very little juiciness behind, lots of skin/tannin. Dry, wheat-heavy lambic with soft oak blandness. More spicy cherry emerges with warming. Could stand a bit more texture and richness here, but I applaud the relatively low lactic character and big cherry and Brett flavors.

Bottle. Clear deep ruby with a small ring if bubbles. Tons of cherries, funk, old wood, hay, oak, light herbal. Not su much almonds here. Over medium sour. Good stuff, not as good as a properly blended kriek but it's nice to try this every once in a while.

Bottle (blend 15 20/21, 6.6% ABV). Deep red, no head. Brooding cherry aroma with almonds, the barn, only hints of old lemon. Almost still. Really rich cherries, almond and apricot stones. Sourness seems at first outmatched but comes through with a funky and old lemony grip. Very good. The cherries are not as complex as some 3F beers but they are majestic.

Assemblage 32. 375ml bottle. Probably from 3F online. Murky cherry red. Slim of white foam. Big cherry Bakewell vibe. Thatβs it. Sweet almond, with juicy tart cherry. Plenty of funk. Smooth and juicy. Lovely.
