19.06.2013, tap @ The Ginger Man NY:
Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly roasted and spiced, dark malts, cloves, cardamom, pepper, rubber, hay, hops, licorice, ginger, caramel. Taste is slightly dry roasted, dark malts, grass, hops, cocoa, rubber, cloves, pepper, leafs, cardamom. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Nice and interesting, even though I can’t see where the wit association comes in, and I have no idea what a black wit would / should be like.

Tap at the Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Poured a deep mahogany with a big frothy tan head. The aroma is weak citrus fruit and malt. The flavour is weak sour and a little bitter with a lovely spicy, vegetable wheaty palate. It’s super thirst quenching and very drinkable. It comes highly recommended.

Draft at The White Horse in Parson’s Green, London on 6 July 2013. Poured a very dark ruby with a thin tan head. Aroma was a mix of typical wits with spicy cloves and orange peal as well as the roasted coffee and malt of a good dark beer. Initial flavours of grain and wheat with some spice which move to lingering burnt malt bitterness.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum NYC. A lovely looking really dense and lasting brown head on top of a deep dark brown body. The nose is not to extreme but I get some salty licorice traces, a little bit of wheat and it's almost grassy - like in reed. It gets much more present after a while in the glass and suddenly I get lots of fresh green coriander and basil! Oh, the basil... Fair. Quite tasty. It has a sweet licorice touch with mote of that wheat and a little bit of cardboard. It's quite light on the mouthfeel, not directly watery but quite light and the carbonation level is about the same, light. Some roastiness towards the finish before its ending in a herbal almost dark tea like experience. Not a huge favorite but fair. 11.06.2013

World of Beer, Arlington tap: Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is weird. It is a veritable combination of a very spicy witbier with roasted malts, along with plenty of citrus. Taste gives you what you would expect from the aroma, but with an almost surprising balance. The beer starts off as a spicy Belgian ale, but then in the finish and aftertaste, the roasted character gets more pronounced. Interesting and quite good. Of all things, the aroma of this beer is nuts.

Draft at Beer Run. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toasted wheat, caramel, herbal hops and faint spice. The taste is caramel, bread, spruce, soy and coriander. Medium bodied. Weird, but I like it.
