Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

Wow, this is excellent! Pours a thick black with a tan head. Nose is toasted malt, vanilla, cocoa. Taste is more of these flavours, solid bitterness from the roasted malt and dark chocolate. Perfectly balanced.

Bottle @ sbwf13. Poured black with a brown head. Sweet oatmeal notes, spicy with chocolate cake. Flavor has dark chocolate, mild coffee, with bready notes in finish. High drinkability, albeit quite thin.

A black beer with a beautiful, brown and almost medium head. The nose is roasted, some salt liquirice, chocolate, vanilla and hint of coffee. Nice aroma. Taste is roasted and strong chocolate, vanilla, some coffee. The end is strongly roasted, even burned, but still enjoyable. Medium bodied, quite smooth to drink. The strong roastiness is nicely balanced. Chocolate and vanilla are nice and balanced flavours in this strong flavoured beer.

(Draught at Barhop, Toronto) Pours a pitch black with a small dark tan head and some carb bubbles clinging to the glass, with just a little lace. Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, wood notes, roasted malt. Flavour fairly sweet and malty to start, with strong roast, vanilla, slightly woody, also slight anise, then gets more of a powdery cocoa/dark chocolate character with bitterness coming from the roast, maybe from the hops too though the flavour doesn’t come through. Finishes reasonably dry but with a bit of sweet malty core lingering. Medium body, silky-smooth, light to medium carbonation. Flavours are strong and distinct but very well-balanced throughout, nothing seems out of place. Asks you to order another.
