Bottle courtesy of Kermis at Dean’s night before the night tasting, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly round light tan head. The aroma is smoky dry roasted malt smooth light caramel with a some boozy alcohol. The flavour is moderate to heavy bitter with a big creamy alcohol liqourice palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation. An oily mouthfeel and a long bitter finish. Superb.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, leather, raw sugar, coffee, bread, licorice, pumpernickel and toast. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of coffee, chocolate, biscuit, licorice and leather. Full bodied with low carbonation and sticky mouthfeel. Really nice.

Bottle at home in Salisbury, CT - picked up at Grassroots in Jacksonville, FL. Pours black, oily, with a thick, tight mocha cream head. The aroma has charred malts, baking cocoa, burnt wood, big roast, milk chocolate. Medium to big sweet flavor with balancing robust bitterness, more char, some molasses, dried dark fruits, raisins, well roasted malts, bitter chocolate. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Modest warmth to finish, lots of bitter cocoa, strong roast, a bit more molasses, burnt marshmallows. Very solid. (September 2013)

[Courtesey of GT2] Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, alcohol with hints of dried fruits and coffee. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, roasted, licorice and bitter finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Amazing beer. Everything comes together in perfection with this imperial stout. Creamy texture - not too syrupy - great head and lacing, black pour. Aroma of pungent roast malt and hops, dark chocolate and light coffee in perfect balance. A little booze but very well hidden, as well as some spiciness in finish. Taste is bittersweet like great chocolate. All of this and it’s super cheap and ubiquitous compared to other beers. I feel like my entire ratebeer career has been waiting for a beer that’s this good, cheap and available at the same time. Bottle, one-year aged thanks to GT2.

First time having this! MIke in MI sent it to me. 12oz fresh batch, 2 finger head, oily black pour. nose is fantastic. everything you’d expect in a stout. bitter hoppy at the start, middle is choclate and caramel. oaky finish. sweet and drinkable like hopped chocolate milk! I could drink this every day.

Long time want ! Newest batch bottle at home Pours blackest black , big brown foam Smell is coffe, burnt malts Very bitter abd hopy , thick , yet light drinkability . Low carbo , has some sweetness to it as well .. Very very unique Ooooooooooow YEAH ! I need more of this , plus i cant wait for black note ! rerate ; 2 y vintage . Still to bitter for an Imperial stout ( to me personally ) but mouthfeel is correct, perfect carbo , tones of chocolate (cacao ) and coffee ( very mild ) , roasted malts and fairly complex . I supose bitterness will melow out even more after ageing another 2 years . I assume by than the beer should be on its peek to me
