This big mother of a Russian Imperial Stout is often considered one of our true classics. Despite the 13% ABV, you'll find Black Albert to be dangerously drinkable. With its thick, tar-like body, it's definitely a sipper, but the alcohol is very well-hidden.

Fantastiskt gott.

Bottle at home, 3rd October 14. It is very Black! The aroma is sweet, syrup, booze and chocolate. Taste is very sweet, berries and chocolate come through. Body is thick. This is a good beer, slightly too sweet for my palate, but still delicious

Bottle - Vintage 2008 - Molasses, loco rice, roasted malts and soy sauce. Jet black with a decent brown head. Soy sauce, booze, dark fruit, port, big roast malts and a long sweet bitter finish. Nice and strong with all the age.

Thick, black. Creamy tan head. Aroma has prunes, licorice, coffe. Flavour is similar plus dark fruit with perfectly balanced bitterness and espresso finish. Not as sweet and cloying as you would perhaps expect from the aroma. Alcohol perfectly controlled. Very, very nice.

Very dark brown. Small brown head. Aroma of alcohol, nail varnish, juniper and pine. Too heavy aroma to be only inviting. Fine and complex taste. Juniper, pine, roasted barley. Fine mouthfeel, with no carbonation.

An usual black color with a fine big beige head. Rich chocolate aroma with some licorice and coffee. Solid body with a fine balance. Not to sweet. Dangerously well masked alcohol. Really smooth and easy drinkable. My goodness. This beer maybe changes a lot. This sample at this moment was really rich chocolate. Quite one dimensional. But also some licorice and mild coffee.
[Bottle from Kolding Vinhandel in Kolding, Denmark – not easy to understand the BB time. But it is sometime in 2015]

Already a classic and one of the best-known members of a new generation of Belgian imperial stouts (or ’royal’, as the label says). Very thick and dense, equal, deeply beige head, colour black with practically no transparency. Very powerful perfume of brown sugar, dates, raisins, pear, vanilla, tobacco, smoked meat, whisky, sherry and coffee powder. Taste very deep and thick, candied fruit, sweet in onset, smooth and oily, profoundly malty (chocolate, caramel, hazelnuts), medium to strong carbonation, in the finish a deep, mouth-lining toasted bitterness, very long dry finish with aromatic hops and warming alcohol. Quite demanding, well-balanced and complex brew.

0,33 l botte from kappödav123. Thanks a lot! Purs black and oily in the glass, No head. Heavy dark berriefruits and dark chocolate at the nose. Taste coffie, very fruity. Longlasting. Alcoholic. A lot of cacao. Fruity sweetness. Very complex. Heavy stuff.
