Our sour cherries, which are certified organic, come from Turkey. The fruit is blended with lambic that is on average 20 months old, the proportion being 200 g of fruit per litre of beer. Since sour cherries have a very pronounced taste it is necessary to select a lambic that has enough character so that it will be a good match for the fruit. After soaking for two to three months, the lambic has extracted the full colours, fragrances and flavours of the sour cherries. At that point it is blended with one-year-old lambic, which contributes the sugars necessary for secondary fermentation in the bottle.

We only use fresh fruit and, as is the case for wine, Cantillon beers can be referred to in terms of vintages. Prevailing weather conditions have a major impact on the ripeness and quality of the fruit, and this is why the taste of the brewery’s fruit-based beers will differ slightly from one year to the next.

Bottle, exactly 5 years old. Very carbonated. Great mix between fruit and funk, a bit on the sour side. Yes!

Bottle 0.75l from pivnizub, huge thanks, Günter! Somewhat aged one, best before unknown. Clear at first, hazy at the bottom, red colored. AROMA- very pleasant, cherries, cherry liqueur, fermented, funky, leather, wooden barrel. FLAVOR- dry, REALLY sour, sharp, vinous, cherry, dark grapes, red currant. Medium bodied. Green bottle 0.75l. Yeah, they told us acids should be stored in glass...

Rating #100 is my first Kriek. 2008 bottle. Grapefruit colored brew with a small white head. The aroma is funk and cherry, duh. The taste is sour with tart cherry, vinegar, funk, and wet cut grass notes. This is definitely an acquired taste..

Fabulous. Kriek is often hit or miss for me but this one was a definite hit. Duh. Bottled in November.

Bottle, close to 6 years old. Cap looks nasty, but the contents are great. Still lovely cherry, bright funk, great body and full carbonation. Not very sour, medium sweet. Love it, my favorite kriek brewer/blender strikes again.

EB from last weekend --- Beer merged from original tick of Kriek 100% Lambic (2016) on 21 Jun 2016 at 15:17 - Score: 8. Original review text: Wow, such cherry! Very kriek. Hard to beat Cantillon at fruit lambics when they're fresh.
