Originally a Wild Dog release commemorating our 10th anniversary. Double Dog Double Pale Ale became here to stay in 2009. Could you control such a beast?

This is a big beer that calls for equally big foods. Flavor notes: Citrus hops with sweet malt and subtle alcohol burn (like a kiss on the cheek) Pairs with: Extra sharp aged Cheddar and stinky Blue cheese; smoked brisket; spicy foods with chili or cayenne pepper; earthy desserts like carrot cake.

Draught, taster. Sampled on the 16/03/2019 at Barcelona Beer Festival 2019, (L´Hospitalet, Spain). Clear amber colour with a medium white head. Aroma is resinous, spruce, caramel, malts and some toffee. Taste is west coast but not so fresh leading to a slightly harsh finish. Next one please!

From Apr 2008

This pours a clear orange gold with a small maybe 1 finger head of foam that soon shrinks to a fine layer. It has some nice lacing.

The smell has a nice balanced nose of piney hops and caramel malt with some alcohol. It's a light smell here but the balance makes it inviting.

The taste matches the nose nicely! Caramel malt working very well together with both piney and a bit of citrus hops. Nice overall taste here but man, the abv is definitely giving me a warm fuzzy feeling but it's only after the swallow.

Nice fairly thick mouthfeel and lightish carbonation. It finishes as balanced as it started. Quite a tasty DIPA and pretty drinkable given how strong it is...certainly worthy of a revisit.

Cost: US$7.99 a 4-pack and it's the 2008 vintage with "brewed by Flying Dog Brewery, Frederick, Maryland" on the label.

Wow, powerful creature. Nice and fresh. Hardcore bitterness, subtle maltyness, loads of resiny hops, some alcohol burn.
